Yr11 – Homework

Students should be working at home on the following tasks in their subject areas:

English Literature

·  Revision of the 15 AQA poems from their Anthology (Power and Conflict cluster). Revision cards and prompts should be constructed allowing them to remember key points/quotations about each poem and how they could be linked.

·  Revision of the novel ‘Jekyll and Hyde’

·  Revision of the Play ‘An Inspector Calls’

·  Revision of the Shakespearean play ‘Macbeth’

All students have been given material in which to revise from but should also be using BBC Bitesize and other websites that look at the language, structure and form in these texts. AQA Language and Literature (grade 9 – 1) Revision Guides can be purchased from Amazon. There are also guides available for each text. There is also a Pixl App for ‘Jekyll and Hyde’.

Maths

·  All students need to work on their areas of weakness as highlighted on the RAG charts. They need to make revision cards and prompts in order to remember key formulae and methods.

·  AQA Mathematics (grade 9 – 1) Revision Guides and Workbooks can be purchased from Amazon. Pixl App to support closing the gap work

Science

·  Students have been asked to revise all content covered from B2, C2 and P2 in their freerevision guides.

·  Science Edexcel App Lite App is free

ICT

·  Students have been issued with a homework booklet. The next topic they must complete is operating online there are 6 worksheets to complete. Revision guide available on the VLE.

Art

·  Students should be researching and working on what has been advised on their personalised learning grid which can be found in their books.

Drama

·  Students have been asked to learn scripts they have written for devising piece in January and begin to read the text 'Our Town’.

Health and Social care

·  Students should be working on coursework at each opportunity they have.

·  Each students has been given an extensive checklist to follow and no one has finished this work as of yet. Students must be doing this at home or they will fail to get finished in time for submission.

·  Assessment one should be finished by January then a start can be made on assessment two and exam preparation.

Photography

·  Students have been instructed to take the school cameras home on evenings and over weekends to produce independent studies for their photography coursework.

·  Each student has an individual project so not all are studying the same theme and they have been directed to conduct photo shoots based on their chosen topic, for example, surrealism or motion. Students are also encouraged to complete any written tasks needed to accompany their work.

·  Over Christmas the students will be tasked with completing their photography coursework for their portfolios to be handed in when we return in January before the commencement of their exam.

Catering

·  Students should be completing Task 1 - Afternoon tea assignment

Graphics

·  Students are completing coursework and can work on material in preparation for this at home. They all have been given booklets on what needs to go onto each sheet so just need to answer questions.

·  Design ideas for the products have been created so this can also be done at home.

·  Each student has a log of what needs to still be finished so they should use this in lessons to prepare what they need to finish at home.

Music

Year 11 musicians should be doing different things for each aspect of the course:

·  Performance - practising for at least20 minutes daily on their instrument for their weekly music lesson.

·  Composing - coming up with composing ideas (chord sequences, rhythmicideas, melodies, riffs, etc.)and researching the style of music they wish to compose in to better understand the stylistic features of that style.

·  Listening - revising flashcards on different coloured cards (AoS 1 to AoS5) which the students already have to learn the key vocabulary for the course.

Spanish

Students will be working at home on their final piece of coursework entitled "My town" which will be due after Christmas in the form of a speaking test.

Students must also be working on their revision timetable, and documenting all revision completed in their blue revision exercise books. Students are given revision on a termly basis, so students, by Christmas, should have reviewed the family topic.

Geography

Geography students all have four different revision booklets (paper 1 Restless Earth and Living World) (paper 2 Population and Tourism) each with sets of questions and exam practice. Students will be asked to bring in this work to be checked at regular intervals.

History

Students have revision materials (Nazi Germany and Cold War) - they should be making and refining notes on each section. Students will be asked to bring in this work to be checked at regular intervals.
