News from the farm

Congrats to our graduates!

Season 2012 is almost over now and many of our trainees will soon be facing the labor market after 32 weeks of hard labor and training at the Ecological farm of Cap Saint-Jacques. Among other diversified tasks, they took care of the farm animals, they learnt greenhouse management, field work and vegetable conditioning and marketing. We were lucky to have a great team this year and we could never had made it without them. We wish them success in their plans for the future!

Harvest Celebration: On Sunday, October 14th, 2012, we warmly invite you to our annual Harvest Celebration at the Ecological Farm of Cap-Saint-Jacques. Many activities await you for the occasion: guided tour of the farm, mini pumpkin decoration, poney rides and a warm soup! Come with all your family!

Pears and apples order: You can still order apples and pears from the web store. Your order will be delivered on Week 16 even if you have a half share and are not receiving a basket on that week. If your order is not claimed, it will be delivered again on week 17.

Vegetable of the week: White turnip

There is a tremendous diversity of radishes around the globe with difference in colors, taste and shape. We grow a couple such as the regular red radish, the French radish, the red meat and the daikon, This week, we introduce for the first time this year the red meat radish. (You may not all receive it this week). At this time of the season radishes grow well and they are not too strong. You can eat them raw in a salad or as the French do it, on bread with salt and butter. You can also cook them for exemple adding them to a stirfry or a soup. Radish leaves as well as white turnip leaves are delicious and full of vitamins. Add them in salad, soups and quiches. Winter is coming and you body needs all the support you can provide in strenghtening your immune system!
