SIUE Alumni Parking Hang Tags – Frequently Asked Questions
Q. As a current member of the SIUE Alumni Association, where am I allowed to park on campus?
A. All current members of the Alumni Association are allowed to park in the Birger Hall parking lot by utilizing a day hang tag issued by the Alumni Association staff. To use the free parking spots, alumni are required to bring their membership card and a photo ID into the lobby of Birger Hall between 8:00am and 5:00pm Monday through Friday. Please note that a hang tag will not be issued to any alumni currently enrolled in classes at the university or to university employees.
Q. What if I am parking on campus after 5:00pm Monday through Friday or on weekends?
A. Open Alumni Association member parking is available after 5:00pm Monday through Friday in the Birger Hall lot. Open parking is available throughout the campus (with the exception of residential lots) on Saturdays and Sundays.
Q. What if I am visiting the campus and the Birger Hall lot is full?
A. Overflow parking is available in Lot 12 (located across the street from the Vadalabene Center.) Alumni Association members are still required to bring their membership card and a photo ID to the Birger Hall lobby to receive their day hang tag.
Q. Where do I park if I am also a member of the Student Fitness Center (SFC)?
A. Alumni Association members who purchase a membership to the SFC can purchase an annual parking permit with their SFC membership. Parking permits will be valid in Brown Lot F and Red Lots. These parking permits are optional and will be valid for one year, ending at the same time your SFC membership expires for each member. The cost for the hang tag is $15 for the Alumni Association member and $10 for spouses. Parking permits will be available for purchase at the SFC starting in July 2008 but old parking permits will not expire until August 24, 2008. Please contact the SFC at 618-650-2348 with questions.
Q. Where is handicapped parking available?
A. Alumni Association members can park in any available handicapped parking spot on campus using their state-issued handicapped parking tag and the Alumni Association day hang tag. Alumni wishing to utilize handicapped parking must still bring their Alumni Association membership card and their photo ID to the Birger Hall lobby to receive the day hang tag. Please note – if you are wishing to utilize handicapped parking and have not picked up your day hang tag from Birger Hall before 5:00pm Monday through Friday, you will need to use the handicapped parking spaces in the Visitor’s Parking Lot (Lot B) or the metered parking spaces in Lot C.
