(3) Tools for Effective Suggestions (TES)

Introduction

Low participation and poor quality of suggestions are the two biggest challenges faced by companies that operate a staff suggestion scheme. This leads to other problems like delay in processing and implementation of suggestions, reduced enthusiasm of staff and managers, and waste of resources.

This problem can be addressed through training. In fact, a study mission to Japan organized by the National Productivity Board (Singapore) in 1987 found that training staff in how to make suggestions was a common practice among outstanding organisations like Toyota and Matsushita. Hence, this programme was developed.

Course Objectives

To help your staff to master the basic technique for making suggestions. It ranges from problem identification to idea generation, to suggestion writing. On completion of the training, staff will:

Understand the factors that hinder their ability to make more and better quality suggestions.

Become more alert to situations in their day-today work where opportunities for suggestions arise.

Acquire creative thinking skills to generate ideas

Know how to present their ideas in the form of workable suggestions that are easy to understand, evaluate and implement.
