Re: 2014-15 Kentucky Wheat Variety Performance Test.

Eight winter wheat tests (7 grain; 1 forage) will be conducted at 7 locations. Tests will be conducted using intensive management practices (fall and spring insecticide; spring herbicide, fungicide, & Nitrogen split-app.) in a randomized complete block design with four replications.

Grain tests will evaluate yield, test weight, plant height, lodging, heading date and disease reaction (@ 2 non-fungicide tests). The forage test will evaluate forage dry matter yield potential at ~ soft-dough stage. One grain test will also be used to evaluate straw yield potential.

The fee is $475 per entry for all tests. 15 pounds of high quality seed is required per entry.

Seed treatment with fungicide and systemic insecticide is recommended. Seed treatment must be listed in accordance with Federal Seed Laws and treated at labeled rates. Entry forms, seed and fees must be received by September 23, 2014.

Results will be published in the annual Kentucky Small Grain Variety Performance Test report and available on the web at: www.uky.edu/ag/wheatvarietytest. If you need any additional information, please call 859-218-0802 or e-mail . Thank you for your cooperation and I look forward to working with you.
