A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA UPON THE DEATH OF MR. GEORGE LUTHER “G. P.” PRICE OF AIKEN, AND EXTEND DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly were deeply saddened to learn of the death of George Luther “G. P.” Price of Aiken, who passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2001, at the age of eighty; and

Whereas, Mr. Price, a native of Edgefield County who served with distinction in the United States military, was a war veteran who risked his life for the safety of our country and fought valiantly in the United States Army during World War II; and

Whereas, Mr. Price, who had retired from his position as a truck driver for DuPont, was involved in his community as a member of Sharp Shooters Hunt Club and the American Legion Post 212, where he was sergeantatarms; he was a faithful member of Second Avenue Baptist Church; and

Whereas, Mr. Price was loved and respected by all who knew him, and he will be greatly missed but not forgotten by his family and many friends; and

Whereas, Mr. Price is survived by his two sons, Arthur Lee Price of Columbia, and William C. Price of Aiken, and ten grandchildren and one greatgrandchild. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the South Carolina Senate :

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the death of Mr. George Luther “G. P.” Price of Aiken, and extend deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of Mr. George Luther “G. P.” Price.
