1) Venue

Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute (AARI), Bering street, 38

4 min work from metro station “Primorskaya” (from the exit you go straight, then turn to the left and cross the street and go over the bridge to the other side of the small river)

2) HOTELS

A) Hotel near AARI

Pribaltiyskaya Park Inn - the closest to the AARI big hotel, 18 min walk (see map below)

The main problem with this hotel is the remoteness from the downtown. The distance from Pribaltiyskaya Park Inn to the downtown is ~ 5 km. Many buses and trolleys go from the hotel to downtown but from 8 to 11 and from 16 to 20 the traffic is very heavy. So, it is better to use metro “Primorskaya” (22 min walk or 5 min by bus) and then two stops by metro.

B) Hotels in the city center

Those who would like to stay in the downtown should use metro to reach the venue. It is impossible to organize ground transportation due to traffic. I recommend to stay in the hotels along and in the vicinity of Nevsky prospect (prospect = avenue). In this case you may use direct metro line from stations Gostiny Dvor (35, Nevsky prosp., 2 stops to Primorskaya) and Mayakovskaya (69, Nevsky prosp., 3 stops to Primorskaya). Primorskaya is the terminal station.

3) Hotel in the Vasilievsky Island

Another possible solution is to stay in the hotel between the venue and downtown. In this case it is possible to use ground transportation between the hotel and institute or, again, people may go by metro (one stop from Vasileostrovskaya station – Vasilievsky Island, 7th Line – to Primorskaya). Good option is:
