Deliver Us from Evil

Matthew 6:13

Pray for personal deliverance from evil.
13“And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.”

13Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise.

Text Message:

o  Don’t love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in them. Everything that is in the world—the craving for whatever the body feels, the craving for whatever the eyes see and the arrogant pride in one’s possessions—is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world and its cravings are passing away, but the person who does the will of God remains forever.
John 2:15-17, Common English Bible

o  Underline in the verse above the three sources of evil mentioned (“The Devil’s Triangle”).

o  These are common temptations to all, as they come from the first humans (Genesis 3:6).

Which of the three are you most tempted by at this time?
1) Physical pleasures outside of God’s boundaries.

2)  Physical things outside of God’s boundaries (i.e. greed).

3) Pride in what you have and/or what you do.

o  Isn’t it interesting that Jesus and all the apostolic writers of the New Testament said something about prayer?

o  Could it be that these writers knew that what was most foundational to faith is can also be the most forgotten?

o  Praise, whether spoken or sang, enables us to focus on what is right with God rather than what is wrong with us.

o  Scripture can be used to bring us into praise.

o  Be exalted, O Lord, in your strength! We will sing and praise your power. Psalm 21:13

o  Sing praises to the Lord, O you his saints, and give thanks to his holy name. Psalm 30:4

But I will hope continually and will praise you yet more and more.
Psalm 71:1Pray for deliverance from evil for the church.
