A risk assessment of all hazardous tasks is required under all States and Territory legislation in Australia. The working at heights is deemed a high-risk task and as such, it is necessary to ensure the safety and health of persons engaged in work on roofs, and especially on air-conditioning units, whilst at heights.
The purpose of this checklist is to assist agents accessing or working on roofs to identify hazards at the workplace and develop work procedures that are safe for persons working on roofs. This checklist can be used to assist in identifying some of the common hazards and risks concerning work on roofs. The risk assessment is not confined to what is shown in the checklist and there may be other specific site hazards requiring attention.
If the answer is “YES” to any one of the questions, attention is required and control measures need to be put in place before proceeding with any work. A copy of this completed checklist MUST be sent to Gecko MMS Pty Limited, along with a copy of control measures to be used (in the event that “YES” has been answered to any question.)

Comments:
Note: Access to roofs requires the wearing of suitable footwear, having good non-slip soles. If suitable anchorage points are available, the use of a full harness and safety line/ fall arrester should be worn as per AS 1891.1. Certain sites require the attendance of 2 personnel, due to the height of ladders, inadequate ladder securing points, difficulty in getting tools/ spares up to the roof height.
