SEVERE CLAUSE – Students will be immediately sent to the office with a referral form for gross misbehavior (practicing unsafe lab procedure, defying teacher authority, insubordination, abusive/foul language, etc.)

Lab Rules: Laboratory rules MUST be followed. See your lab safety contract. Horseplay in a lab setting will not be tolerated and will result in a zero for that activity, and possible disciplinary action. Any serious infraction in lab will result in an immediate office referral.

Grading: Grades will be accessible through Skyward and will be updated weekly. The two general types of grades in this course and how they will be scored are as follows:

·  Major: 70% There will be two to four exams each grading period in this course.

Note: Exams can, and will, include items from previous units. It is, therefore, imperative that you keep up on not only what we are doing at present, but continually review previous material. This is especially true at the AP level.

·  Daily: 30% Daily grades will include items such as labs, homework, or quizzes. There will be 8 of these, at a minimum, each grading period. Homework will be assigned and completed utilizing the textbook and the Mastering Physics website. Students who have no home internet access can ask for and receive the equivalent assignment in the book. However, they will be missing important assignment aspects such as tutorials, and immediate feedback. Therefore, I highly recommend utilizing school computers in the library before or after school as necessary.

Tutorials: I am available before and after school almost every day for any student needing assistance. Official tutorials are Monday and Wednesday from 3:00PM – 4:00PM. I can also work with individual students during my conference period and/or lunch if needed.

Absences: Whenever you know you will be absent, please ask for your work BEFORE the absence so that you will not fall behind. When you are absent unexpectedly, it is YOUR responsibility to get the notes and work you missed the day you return from being absent. It is also recommended you attend the next available tutoring session for additional help. If you are absent the day an assignment is due, the assignment is due on the day you return to school (at the start of the class period). Missed quizzes/tests must be made up by the next quiz/test or within five school days following the absence.

Late Work Policy: All assignments must be handed in on time. LATE WORK WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. All work will be returned to the student after grading so the student can check for accuracy.

Tardiness: Tardy students will receive a D-hall every time they are tardy to class.
