DRESS CODE

Parents are responsible for compliance with the dress code of St. Christopher School.

1. GIRL’S UNIFORM:

Skirt or Jumper hem length must touch the top of the knee and be the same distance from the floor all the way around when standing. You must measure from the floor both front and back. Shirts must be tucked in so that the waistband of pants and skirts can be seen. The bottom button of the green uniform shirt is to be buttoned at all times. Slacks and shorts must fit properly at the waist–no tight fitting, low riding, hip hugger or jean type pants. All girls, Pre-K through 8th, must wear shorts under their skirts or jumpers.

3. DRESS UNIFORM CODE:

Students in Pre-K through 2nd grades are to wear the green knit uniform shirt with jumpers for girls and long pants for boys. 3rd through 8 grade students are to wear the white oxford cloth shirt with St. Christopher logo and tie with skirt for girls and long pants for boys. No shorts may be worn on Mass days.

4. DRESS UNIFORM CODE NON-COMPLIANCE CONSEQUENCES (3rd – 8th Grades):

If a student is out of uniform and it cannot be corrected immediately and the parent is unable to bring the proper item:

●The student will not be allowed to participate with his/her class (sing in choir, read, take up collection or bring up gifts) if their class is in charge of the Mass.

●If they are scheduled for a field trip, 8th grade high school visit, etc. they will not be allowed to participate. They will stay at the school with another class until their class returns.

No tie - $5.00 rental fee for borrowed tie for the day. Fee is due in cash the next school day or school account will be charged. If the rented tie is not returned at the end of the school day, full payment will be due $11.75 for girls and $17.75 for boys.

ONLY ITEMS THAT ARE THE OFFICIAL ST. CHRISTOPHER SCHOOL UNIFORM ARE TO BE WORN. THIS INCLUDES JACKETS, COATS AND SWEATSHIRTS.

  1. Shorts may be worn only during the first and last 9 weeks.
  2. Shirts must be tucked in so that the waistband of the skirt, pants or shorts is clearly visible and no torso skin can be seen.
  3. ONLY the school grey P.E. t-shirt or plain white short sleeved t-shirt (or camisole for girls) may be worn under the green uniform shirt and under athletic jerseys. “Under” shirts may not have logos, slogans, words or pictures of any kind, except those that are part of the school uniform. The green uniform shirt must cover the sleeves of the shirt worn underneath. No long sleeved shirts of any kind, including “UnderArmour” are to be worn at any time under any school uniform or game shirts or jerseys.

Students participating in after school sports may wear their team sport shirt or jersey the day of a game. Game shirts or jerseys may not be worn to Mass.

  1. When wearing the navy blue St. Christopher sweatshirt, the green or white uniform shirt must be worn underneath and the collar must be out over the neck of the sweatshirt.
  1. Solid BLACK shoes are to be worn – INCLUDING SOLES AND LACES. No odd or bright colored laces. Shoes must have standard, non-scuff soles. No shoes with wheels, rollers, flashing lights or cartoon characters. No boots, high-tops, sandals, flip-flops or platform shoes are to be worn. Shoes must fit properly and laces must be tied properly, not tucked in on the side of the shoe.
  1. Boys must wear plain white, crew length (mid calf) socks at all times. Girls must wear plain white crew length (mid calf) or white knee high socks at all times. NO ANKLE SOCKS, NO-SHOW SOCKS OR OTHER TYPE OF SOCK ALLOWED.No bows, ruffles, lace, characters etc. allowed on socks or shoes. Pre-K girls will be allowed to wear the Parker Uniform socks with the school plaid on them.Girls may wear white, navy or black tights in cold weather. No leggings are to be worn.

5. I.D. BADGES

Identification badges are to be worn at all times during the school day, from the day they are received until the last day of school. They are not to be taken home.If a student loses his/her I.D. Badge, a new one will be made and you will be charged $5.00 for the replaced I.D. badge and $1.00 for the clip (if needed). A school lanyard (sold in the school office) may be worn to hold the I.D. badge. Deliberate vandalism (marking on them, cutting, chewing or bending them, or altering them in any way) will result in a replacement badge made and $5.00 fee charged. An invoice will be sent home and payment for the replacement I.D. Badge and/or clip is due in cash the next school day.

6. MAKEUP

Students are not allowed to wear ANY makeup on campus. Nail polish, including clear, is not allowed. No false, gel or acrylic nails.

7. JEWELRY

Girls may wear ONE PAIR of stud or small earrings, in the lower ear lobes. (One earring in each ear lobe – ear lobe must show) No dangling earrings or hoop earrings. Boys are not to wear earrings on campus at any time or at any school function. Tape cannot be worn to cover up earrings. If any female student wears inappropriate earrings to school, the student will be asked to remove them and the Principal will hold them in her office until the end of the school day. No student, boy or girl, may wear nose rings, tongue rings (studs), eyebrow rings, lip rings, tattoos, or any other items deemed inappropriate by the Principal. One small, discreet religious necklace (one inch or smaller) may be worn. One small, plain, simple watch with no designs may be worn – color must coordinate with the uniform. NOTHING ELSE MAY BE WORN ON THE WRISTS.

8. HAIR

Hairstyles for boys and girls should meet the standards of good taste for the classroom. Haircuts and styles that are disruptive to the learning environment will not be allowed. No Mohawks, shaved designs, streaking, highlighting, or extreme hairstyles are to be worn. Hair is to be clean and neatly combed at all times. Girls may wear clips or small bows made out of the school plaid, white, navy, black, hunter green or yellow or any combination of these colors. Bangs(boys and girls) must be neatly trimmed above the eyebrows. Boy’s hair must be neatly trimmed and groomed: it may not touch the shirt collar; it must be neatly trimmed around the ears (not touching the ears) and it may not hang in face or eyes. Boy’s hair may not be swept behind ears or across forehead. Boys may not wear pony tails, mustaches, beards or long sideburns. Boys who have begun shaving are expected to shave as often as the situation dictates to maintain good grooming. When a hairstyle is in question, the Principal will make the final decision. If the hairstyle is considered inappropriate or if the student needs a haircut, they will be given notice and the parent/legal guardian will be contacted. The hairstyle is to be corrected immediately, to comply with our guidelines. No type of head covering, bandanna, scarf, cap or hat is to be worn.

9. SPECIAL DRESS DAYS - Spring Pictures - Thursday February 15, 2018 - Sunday dress clothes.

Non-uniform days will be announced. No T-shirts with inappropriate or distasteful slogans/pictures. No see-through, tank, crop, halter, low cut, spaghetti strap tops or bare shoulders. Dresses or skirts should be of a modest style and length. Pants/jeans must be worn at the waist. No hip huggers, oversized, low riding or tight fitting pants or jeans. There should be no holes in shirts or pants. Skin-tight clothing of any type is not allowed. Faculty members share the responsibility for enforcement. The school reserves the right to decide whether a student's grooming is in compliance with the school standards.

If there are any questions as to specific examples of the dress code or grooming, the decision of the administration is final.

NON-USE OF ELECTRONIC DEVISES, INCLUDING CELL PHONES

Cell Phones

  1. Students are not allowed to bring or use cell phones on campus. Emergency calls can be placed from the school office. Cell phones and personal electronics that are brought on campus will be confiscated and returned to parents at the discretion of the principal in addition to being assessed a $25.00 fee. Students involved in possession or transmission of inappropriate photos on their cell phone or other electronic devices face suspension and/or expulsion.
  1. In order to protect all students from cyber bulling, unwanted videography and photography, lewd internet sites, and disruptive or inappropriate messages and calls, student possession of electronic pagers, beepers, video games, iPods, MP# players, camera, smart watches or other personal electronic devices on school property or at school related functions is prohibited. Use of these devices during the school day is strictly prohibited. Parents may call the school office to leave an urgent message for the student or in case of an emergency during school hours; however, please have dismissal plans arranged before dropping off the student. School phones are for emergencies.
