CALL FOR PRESENTERS FORM

The North Carolina Juvenile Services Association(NCJSA) has provided leadership and training in the juvenile justice field for more than four (4) decades. NCJSA has demonstrated expertise in offering a continuum of professional development opportunities for individuals new to the juvenile justice arena, in addition to those with advanced levels of education and practical experience.

The 2016Fall Conference theme“Campaigning for Champions of Change: Juvenile Justice Professionals and Practitioners Working towards Solutions for North Carolina’s Youth and Families.” The NCJSA 2016 Conference Planning Committee is pleased to release the “Call for Presenters Form” officially opening our solicitation process for workshop proposals.

Attendees will select workshops relevantto their job responsibilities, level of interest, and overall trajectory for professional growth. Based on feedback from past conferences,a list of topicscreated by the Conference Planning Committee is listed below:

Topics of Interest:

  • Evidence-Based Practices
  • Understanding Cultural Competency and Diversity
  • Recruit, Retention, and Recognition -Performance Management for Staff and Volunteers
  • Strategies for Effective Family Engagement
  • Research and Positive Youth Outcomes
  • Serving Homeless Youth and Families
  • Workforce Development Opportunities for Youth
  • Best Practices for Youth Civic Engagement

Note: These topics do not represent the full list of all conference offerings and is subject to change.

Conference workshops should be delivered within a 90 or 120 minute timeframe permitting participants to become actively engaged in a question and answer session. Evaluations are mandatory at the conclusion of each session. Workshop materials and handouts should be copied prior to arrival and on-site printing cannot be accommodated due to costs. Average workshop attendance is approximately 60-70 individuals.
