A HOUSE RESOLUTION
TO COMMEND AND CONGRATULATE ALECA JOHNSON OF SENECA FOR HER NUMEROUS SOFTBALL ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND EXCEPTIONAL PLAY, AND TO WISH HER MUCH ATHLETIC AND ACADEMIC SUCCESS IN THE YEARS TO COME AT THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA.
Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina applaud Aleca Johnson for her outstanding high school softball career and the many awards and honors she has received; and
Whereas, Aleca Johnson was named the Class AAA State Softball Player of the Year for the third consecutive year by the Coaches Association of Women’s Sports. Aleca has been the Region IAAA Player of the Year, South Carolina AllState, and AllRegion for the last four years as well as being named the Most Valuable Player of the Seneca Softball Team for the last three years; and
Whereas, Aleca Johnson was recently awarded the title of “Miss Softball” by the High School Sports Report and named the 2001 Gatorade State Player of the Year, and her number fifteen jersey was retired by Seneca High School; and
Whereas, Aleca Johnson holds four State Records including one hundred twentyfour wins, seventy-six shutouts, one thousand three hundred twentyone strikeouts, and a career batting average of .405; and
Whereas, the Seneca High School Lady Cats Softball Team had a memorable 2001 season with a record of thirtyone wins and four losses and a AAA State Championship Title. In the State Championship Series against Georgetown High School, Aleca Johnson was the sole pitcher in all three games and did not allow a single earned run; and
Whereas, Aleca Johnson’s softball career will not end with her graduation from Seneca High School; she was recruited by the University of South Carolina’s softball program and will attend in the fall; and
Whereas, the House of Representatives honors Aleca Johnson of Seneca for her impressive display of softball abilities over the course of her high school career and anticipate her performance as a Lady Gamecock Softball Player at the University of South Carolina. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commend and congratulate Aleca Johnson of Seneca for her numerous softball accomplishments and exceptional play, and to wish her much athletic and academic success in the years to come at the University of South Carolina.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Aleca Johnson of Seneca, South Carolina.
