Absences
If students miss more than 3 days per nine weeks, they are at risk of being removed from their internship position. Students’ absences not only affect themselves, but the classroom in which they are interning as well. It is imperative that the students are present for their internships, as the classroom teacher is depending on them to be there. IF a student must be out, he/she must first contact their internship teacher by calling the elementary school. Then, they must also contact me via school phone or email. Missing more than 3 days per nine weeks will also result in the standard procedure for making up time per school policy.
Tardies
Students are expected to arrive to my class ready to start class by the time the bell rings. Three tardies equal an absence. The fourth tardy will result in an office referral. Students are also expected to be in their internship classroom by no later than 8:05. Classroom teachers may ask interns to arrive earlier when the elementary students arrive, or interns may choose to come in earlier.
Dress Code
Students will be expected to adhere to NIHS dress code as well as the dress code determined by the internship handbook. Students will be expected to wear attire similar to that of a classroom teacher (dress pants, blouses, khakis, etc.). It is important to note that jeans will not be allowed unless it is a special day designated by the elementary school.
Classroom Expectations:
1. Arrive to class on time.
2. Cell phones should not be out.
3. Stay in your seat until you are dismissed.
4. Keep the classroom clean.
5. Respect yourself, your peers, and your teacher. Bullying, back talking, and profanity will not be tolerated.
*All school rules apply.
