CLOTHING APPEAL

Our current clothing appeal from which we help to fund ‘Light the Night’ ends TODAY. The bags will be collected this Tuesday, 27th October. THANK YOU.

The ‘Light the Night’ outdoor concert and fireworks, in the halls and grounds of St Andrew’s, is due to take place this week on Halloween night, Saturday 31st October. There will be a band, burgers, face painting and other ways to light up the night… and demonstrate that Jesus is the light of the world. It will begin at 7.00pm and the fireworks will light up the night at about 8.00pm. This event is for all the family and it’s free! HOWEVER, in view of the current serious refugee movement from the Middle East and into Europe, we are proposing to give an opportunity to make donations, through TEAR Fund to relief efforts in both areas…our mission …to bring light into their darkness! We hope to see you there. Would those hoping to steward please confirm this with Drew Hunter.

MISSIONARY

Emma & Fredi: The September 2015 edition of Jungle Juice is now available in the vestibule.

The autumn edition of ‘Latinfile,’ the magazine for Latin Link, is available in the vestibule.

Wycliffe Bible Translators: The final info sheet and prayer points from the Mungo Cluster, Zambia, is available in the vestibule. ‘Final’ because the Luke’s Gospel project in this area has been completed.

INTRODUCING PRAYER TRIPLETS

In an endeavour to encourage more prayer in our congregation, we are introducing the concept of prayer triplets. A prayer triplet is as it sounds: a group of three people (perhaps up to five) who meet on a regular basis to pray. These small groups of people commit to meet at some mutually agreed time and place in order to spend time in prayer. It is a proven means of strengthening a congregation’s prayer life and we want to encourage as many as possible to participate in this ministry. There are leaflets in the vestibule, please take one. If you have any questions please do speak to Linda McGarrell.

SUMMER BOOK CLUB – Community Bible Experience. All participants are reminded of the suggested contribution of £5 per New Testament towards our donation to Biblica Europe. Please give this to Ken Brown as soon as possible. Thank you.

LEVEL 2 FOOD AND HYGIENE

This qualification is for anyone in the church who handles food. Some of us completed this training 3 years ago but unfortunately this now needs updated. We are hoping to do it online in the Minor Hall and the approximate cost will be £35. Anyone interested whether you have completed it before or not, please contact Moyra as soon as possible and we will arrange a date and time to suit everybody.

CHARITIES COMMISSION REGISTRATION

Members of Kirk Session should remember that it is now time for each member to be registered as a Trustee of St Andrew’s Church. We must register between 16th November and 16th December. WOULD THOSE ELDERS WHO WERE NOT PRESENT AT THEIR MEETING ON 20th OCTOEBER PLEASE SEE KEN BROWN URGENTLY. Thank you.

VESTIBULE REFURBISHMENT

You will doubtless have noticed that the vestibule is currently being refurbished. Painting has been going on for the past week. Those intending to put up notices are requested by the Committee to use the notice boards and NOT to blutack them to the white walls. THANK YOU.

HARVEST OFFERINGS

The amount raised at the ‘Bake off!’ coffee morning for the ‘No Child Taken’ appeal was £630. The special harvest offering on Sunday amounted to £960 (inc. gift aid). Both are being donated through TEAR Fund.

100 Shoeboxes were donated. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
