Program
The Leadership Summit for Women is an annual, intergenerational and community-wide event that provides the skills, space, and support for all participants, regardless of gender, to reach their full potential as individuals and as collaborative members of a community. The Summit invites established and developing leaders to participate as panelists, presenters and moderators to engage Hamiltonians in a robust, meaningful and ongoing discussion about advancing the status of women.
This year, the conference theme “Be Bold!” is a call to action for young women and allies to have the courage to use their voices and challenge the status quo. Throughout this day-long conference, we will strive to educate and examine the issues impacting women today. Our goal is to help attendees develop their leadership skills and facilitate conversations about meaningful change in our organizations, communities and society at-large.
The format of the day includes a panel discussion about employment, breakout workshops, and additional activities throughout the event that will foster creativity, networking, community building and storytelling. A light breakfast and lunch are provided for all delegates.
Call for Proposals – Presentations
The LSW planning committee is seeking 4 dynamic and informative presentations which will make-up the break-out sessions during the Summit. The presentations will run twice in the day, back to back. Each session is 45 minutes in length followed by 10 minutes of questions and answers.
Topics
We invite you to submit a proposal exploring an aspect of women’s leadership. Presentations should be informative and can be skills based, research based, conversational/analytical, artistic and/or experiential. The workshops will center upon the theme of being bold. We are accepting topic proposals related to the following themes:

Why Submit a Proposal
The Leadership Summit for Women creates a place to develop and advance leaders, while creating an opportunity for all women and allies to share experiences, skills, and plans for growth and development. The Summit will also provide a local network of mentors and supports for women in the Hamilton community.
Proposal Assessment
Proposals will be considered by an independent Review Committee made up of women and allies from the 2017 LSW partner organizations. The committee is interested in proposals that incorporate experiences, tools, skills and creative interactive activities that consider and explore various aspects of women’s leadership. Workshops that provide an interactive take-away and “What’s next” for participants. Please allow a month for the assessment process; we will contact all applicants by the end of September.
