Future forms
Future simple (will):
“will” is used to express that the speaker offers to do something for someone else.
- I will send you the information when I get it.
- I will translate the email, so Mr. Smith can read it.
- A: I’m really hungry.
B: I will make you some sandwiches.
“will” is also used in promises.
- I will call you when I arrive.
- I promise I will not tell him about the surprise party.
Be going to:
“be going to” expresses that something is a plan. It expresses the idea that a person intends to do something in the future.
- He is going to spend his vacation in Hawaii.
- I’mgoing to be an actor when I grow up.
“will” or “be going to” can also be used to express a prediction:
- John Smith will be the next President.
- John Smith is going to be the next President.
Fill in the blanks with the correct future form “will” or “be going to”:
- A: I need some tokens to telephone my friend.
B: I ______(give) you some.
- A: Have you got any plans for the summer?
B: Yes, we ______(go) to Italy in June.
- A: I’ve got a terrible headache.

- A: Why are you turning on the television?

- A: I’ve decided to re-paint this room.

- A: I can’t work out how to use this camera.

- A: Has George decided on what to do when he leaves school?
