‘The 100 simple secrets of Happy People’ is an interesting and practical book filled with simple secrets of happiness. It teaches us how to obtain fun and happiness in our lives instead of worrying about everything in the world. The author of this book, David Niven, is a psychologist and social scientist. This book is written based on psychological research. We can learn how to turn sadness into great happiness after reading this book.

With every secret, an example is given to provide more information to explain so the readers can know what the simple secret of happiness easily. After all, all the sources of the information such as research will be given at the very end of this book that makes it very informative to read about. The only thing that I would like to complain about is that there is too much empty space in the book. But this book is generally good with very great content. There is a lot of practical guidance that we can really use and benefit from.

I like this book very much because it provides me with ways to become happy. One of the simple secrets, ‘cultivate friendship’, gives me a strong impression. In this secret, it tells me that close relationships is the most meaningful factor of happiness and it says that we are four times as likely to feel good about ourselves if we feel close to others! One of my favourite secrets is ‘you always have a choice.’ I agree that there are choices in everything in our lives. For example, we can choose to think positively or negatively. It is all about our choice to be happy or not. Above all, it is important for us to appreciate the choices we’ve made. This book also provides some secrets about simple daily life activities that we will normally ignore like doing some exercise and getting a good night’s sleep. Some of them are really common sense that we will probably overlook but is useful to improve our general mood.

This is a self-help book that is really fun to read and it really works. I will try to apply the tips in the daily life. I will learn to be grateful for whatever life has offered me and change my mindset to choose the more satisfying path that will truly make me happy!
