Dear Parent/Carer

SCHOOL UNIFORM

With your support the school has made a concerted effort over the last few years to improve the standard of the school uniform, helping to make the school a safer and more ordered environment for all our young people. The standard of our uniform is something to be proud of with the vast majority of pupils adhering to the stated code of dress and I would like to take this opportunity to thank parents and carers for their cooperation in this matter.

At the request of many parents and carers we introduced, as an option, a grey tartan skirt, which can be viewed via the school website. To help distinguish between the S5 and S6 students an extra piece of braiding on the sleeve of the S6 blazer was also introduced.

Here is a list of our uniform:

  • School Blazer, unbraided for S1 – S4 and braided for S5 and S6
  • White school shirt
  • School tie
  • Black school skirt, grey tartan skirt or black school trousers – no shorts
  • Black v neck jumper or cardigan – that allow school ties to be seen (no crewnecks)
  • Black outdoor jacket
  • Black school shoes or black trainers

As education is formal we would like all pupils to dress in a suitable manner and therefore certain forms of dress are inappropriate e.g.

  • Polo shirts or black coloured shirts
  • Coloured tops or tops related to any sports team
  • Black Jeans, leggings, combat trousers, cargo pants, track suits, denim/leather jackets
  • Coloured belts, hooded tops, footless tights etc
  • No white or coloured footwear other than black.
  • In terms of Health and Safety pupils should not wear large earrings, chains, bracelets or large rings

As of August we will expect all pupils to wear the full uniform including the school blazer and for your convenience we have arranged with our supplier Logos On, to visit the school for orders and fittings if grey tartan skirts and new blazers are required.

Arrangements for each group are:

Present P7 (incoming S1 pupils)Wednesday 24 May 2017

Present S1 – S3 pupilsWednesday 7 June 2017

Present S4 and S5 pupilsWednesday 7 June 2017

All S5 and S6 are asked to wear braiding on their blazer. If a new blazer is not required the company has agreed to braid any freshly laundered blazers, which have been clearly marked with the pupil’s name, for a cost of £10. Parents can also purchase braiding if they want to attach it themselves. A senior school tie should also be worn and these can be purchased from the school office at a cost of £4.

After measuring, your child will be given an order form which needs to be returned to the school with payment by Friday 16 June2017or alternatively ordered directly with Logos On (01555 759924) or

The costs for the blazer is:

Unbraided Blazer (S1 – S4) - £30 Braided Blazer (S5) - £36

Braided Blazer (S6) - £42

Could I also take this opportunity to ask you to donate any outgrown or unwanted blazers. These will be laundered here in the school and either recycled or used as spares.

The cost of the Trutex grey tartan skirt is:

£18.50 for up to 24” waist £24 for sizes from 26” waist.

If there are any aspects of this letter that you wish to discuss then please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours faithfully
