Responsibilities / Teaching & Learning
- Have read and understood the LSETeacher Handbook and be fully conversant with LSE’s policies for the welfare and protection of children.
- Assist in carrying out student induction, placement tests and marking.
- Demonstrate an ability to plan lessons effectively, appropriate to both the course objectives and the needs of students.
- Show sound knowledge of the linguistic systems of English and be able to model both spoken and written English appropriately.
- Demonstrate an ability to manage resources appropriately and effectively to facilitate learning.
- Use appropriate feedback and correction techniques.
- Ensure a positive and safe learning atmosphere within the classroom.
- Attend CPD sessions as specified by the DoS/Academic Manager/Academic Coordinator.
- Lead and assist groups on afternoon, evening and weekend excursions on a rota basis and ensure the safety and welfare of the students.
- Read all material provided by the Activity Manager/coordinator to gain knowledge on the cities/attractions listed on the programmes.
- Provide students with the necessary information to help them get the maximum benefit from their stay.
- Aim to answer enquiries any students or Group Leaders have about the excursions and endeavour to find out if unsure.
- Actively encourage the involvement of students in activities and on trips.
- Look after materials/equipment and ensure they are returned at the end of each trip/activity.
- Provide feedback on the programme and on risk assessments for the Activities Team.
- Have read and understood the Employee Handbook.
- Carry out mealtime and general supervisiondutiesas per rota.
- Assist with airport transfers and student arrivals and departures.
- Assist in closing the centre and returning equipment.
- Participate in the staff induction day.
- Additional duties as required.
