Aimed at:

·  All staff working with parents before and after the birth of their baby

Course Content

·  An understanding of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and the increased risk to babies of younger parents

·  National and local incidence of SIDS

·  Updates of the latest advice in safe infant care practices

·  Information relating to the launch of local Safe Sleep Campaign

Outcomes:

This course will:

·  Enable you to pass key safe sleeping messages to parents, through the use of safe sleep resources and discussion

·  Increase your knowledge of the current Reduce the Risk Advice

·  Help you to assist parents by increasing their confidence, independence and self-esteem by supporting them in changing behaviour

·  Increase your confidence to pass on Reduce the Risk advice to parents through discussion

·  Understand your organisation’s responsibility, and your personal role in delivering the Safe Sleep message

·  Increase awareness of your local Sleep Safe campaign

·  Provide free resources to use with parents, including reduce the risk leaflets and more
