SYMON2000 Servers Alive
for Call Centers

Introduction

Servers Alive is a server monitoring option of SYMON2000 that permits the monitoring of critical servers and systems which may be otherwise unmonitored, helping to ensure the highest customer service levels for call centers. Servers Alive is simple and easy to install for immediate implementation.

Servers Alive monitors call center and help desk platforms such as:

·  Interactive Voice Response (IVR) Units

·  ACD Server Platforms

·  CTI Servers

·  Web Page Servers

·  E-mail Servers

·  TAPI Servers

·  Fax Servers

·  Database Servers

·  File Servers

·  Computer Servers

·  Digital Recorders – NT based

Servers Alive pings each of these platforms on regularly scheduled intervals as frequently as every few seconds, testing whether the server platform is responsive or “alive.” When a problem is detected, it is followed up with additional pings for confirmation. Servers Alive is configured to trigger and send out message alerts to SYMON message destinations to inform technical support and call center management of potentially critical situations. These alerts can be sent to:

·  Pagers

·  Desktop “Soft” Wallboards

·  Desktop Voice Announcements

·  Wallboards

·  E-mail

Timely status reports are delivered through your SYMON system in the manner most useful to your organization. For business units that do not require an expensive network management package, Servers Alive is a low-cost, easy-to-use solution.

Servers Alive also lets users take action in the event that a server is down or is not responding, instead of being just a passive monitoring system. Users have the option of running an executable that reboots/restarts the device that is not responding, either once or each time devices are checked. This saves both time and cost associated with typical network administration.
