1/23/2017 SCBAA Meeting Minutes – SCB Gym

Attendance: Mike Murray, Matt Heischmidt, Tammy Buehler, Matt Maher, Jim Doughty, Nick Hester, Eric Gray, Katie Nikodym, Chris Williams, Sunny Kaushik

Guests: John Wolf, Mike Orrico, Gregg Jost

Opening Prayer: Mike

Old Business:

*John Wolf nominated as secretary position replacement for Tammy Buehler, Mike Orrico is interested in replacing outgoing Chris Williams – track coordinator

New Business:

*Track Update (Chris): Registration closes Feb 5th. Preliminary meet: St. Dominic with Championship at Bishop DuBourg.

*CYC Report (Matt Maher): Matt referred us to a software system that would greatly help/ease the timing and organization of SCBAA ref scheduling/payments. Approx $250 yr/cover 50 refs. SCBAA is very interested in purchasing prior to next soccer season.

*Basketball (Nick Hester): new signs on participants/parents expectations have been posted, new nets installed. Floor will be cleaned every 2 weeks. 12 boys teams registered for the annual 7th grade SCB tourney. Starts Jan. 28th. All games will have a SCB “marshal” represented in the gym. Nick is asking for help to cover admission/concessions and score keeping to make the tournament smooth and successful.

*PreK bball (GreggJost): 37 kids are signed up as to date. Positive feedback from participants’ families. There will be 7 more weeks and they are looking for a possible medal/ball as a culminating item for the kids to walk away with from this camp. Gregg reported approx. $1600 was brought in. Expenses were $500 rims/hoops, $400 tshirts). He feels it’ll be a great program which will continue in the future. SCBAA board congratulated Gregg on his quick proposal and turnaround time on this newly formed program.

*Golf (Matt Heischmidt): As to date 15 kids are registered for SCBAA program. Matt reported the participants will be receiving a golf shirt with SCBAA on them. They will be participating in top golf courses (Bogey Hills, Hawks Ridge and the Legends) with a few weeks instruction from golf pros.

*Chess (Sunny Kaushik): the scheduled tournament had to be cancelled due to the ice storm a few weeks ago. 11 kids are currently signed up. There are 2-3 tourneys still available to participate in.

*Registration (Jim Doughty): 11 track and 15 golfers as to date.

*Soccer (Eric Gray): Only thing to report was the light bill from McNair

*Save the Date – SCBAA annual golf tournament – secured through Bogey Hills on July 17th. This is one of SCBAA’s largest fundraisers.

*Josh Toal’s parents John and Cindy Toal donated an in kind check on behalf of SCBAA in the amount of $2,000. SCBAA is very grateful they thought of us.
