Friends of Montessori is coordinating the event here and hosting the screening of Race to Nowhere Friday evening. 16 days to 4th and 5th grade STAAR!
In order to add 5 more days, we are hosting Spring Break Camp for students in grades 3 – 6 here at Garden Oaks during the week of March 17th – 21st. Hours of the camp are 7:30am – Noon. During this week we will focus on academic skills in reading, math and writing. If your child has received a notice to attend the session, it is imperative that your child be in attendance every day. Remember, passing grades and STAAR scores are required for continued enrollment in an HISD magnet program. On-time arrival, full-day attendance and general school attendance are also magnet requirements.
THANK YOU for a fantastic Friday!

CAMPUS OF KINDNESS
Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw is our focus for the month of March. Taking good care of our bodies and minds is essential for long-term success. Eating healthy food, getting plenty of exercise and at least 10 hours of sleep are key ingredients for student success. Additionally, we are implementing the Nurtured Heart approach to interactions on campus. We are studying the book, There’s Always Something Going Right. Parents watched the 7 Habits video clip “See-Do-Get” at Friday’s Pastries with Pollock which highlighted looking for the best.
CONGRATULATIONS TO ECOBOTS!
Garden Oaks’ Robotics Team took the most certificates at the competition Saturday. GO Girls (Viviana and Camilla in Mr. Diaz’s class, Minerva in Mr. Gerhard’s class and Andrea in Ms. Siegel’s class) came in first place in the Elementary Overall Robot Performance for Duck Hunt and also Ring Toss. Certificates of exceptional effort and determination (GRIT) were earned by Zuri and Charles! Way to go!
Note: I will be at the Stonewall Conference in LA Monday and Tuesday this week where I have been asked to present our campus implementation of Welcoming Schools!
