A RESOLUTION commending the Williamstown High School Band of Spirit upon winni
ng the 2004 Class A Marching Band Championship.
WHEREAS, the Williamstown High School Band of Spirit is a 58 member band that has distinguished itself by being the first state champion since its school was established in 1890; and
WHEREAS, the Williamstown High School Band of Spirit began the 2004 season by winning the Class A and the Grand Championship at Rowan County High School over the eventual AAA State Champion and other larger Final IV bands; the band continued through the 2004 season with Class A wins at Shelby County High School, North Laurel High School, Grant County High School, and Boone County High School; and the small band was judged to be the best by nearly five points at semi-finals as the Band of Spirit reached the most exiting and magical level of performance for the year on the night of October 16, 2004 when the Williamstown High School Band of Spirit won the prestigious Class A Championship at Western Kentucky University, with nearly 20,000 fans in attendance; and
WHEREAS, band director Robert Gregg is to be commended for his genius, and for his extraordinary talent and dedication to the members of the Williamstown High School Band of Spirit;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The House of Representatives is indeed proud and honored to commend the Williamstown High School Band of Spirit along with band director Robert Gregg for their outstanding accomplishments, and we congratulate them upon winning the 2004 Kentucky State Class A Marching Band Championship.
Section 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in honor of the Williamstown High School Band of Spirit.
Section 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to transmit 70 copies of this Resolution to Representative Royce W. Adams for presentation to the Williamstown High School Band of Spirit.
