Please answer the following:
1) Please provide a brief description of your organization’s mission and discuss the work that your organization undertakes to fulfill its mission. What would a student need to know about your organization to understand how it betters communities—directly and/or indirectly?
2) Please describe the work plan for your Summer Links intern during the 9-week period (July 3, 2017-September 1, 2017), including objectives and learning outcomes. Please indicate specific duties and responsibilities the intern will take on.
3) Please describe your approach to the mentorship aspect of Summer Links. Summer Links interns are often highly desirous of an internship supervisor who engages them in conversation about their courses, career, social concerns, and life choices—as well as doing their assigned project tasks. How do you plan to support your intern’s understanding of your organization’s approach to effecting social change and apply their internship experience to inform their academic and career goals?
4) Please describe the type of intern you feel would work most effectively within your organization on the work plan(s) proposed above.
a) Skills/Qualifications (including language proficiency, technical skills, past experience (if necessary) etc.)
b) Work Style (e.g., outgoing, analytical, flexible, good with kids)
c) Life Experience/Demographic Considerations
5) Please describe the knowledge and skills an intern will gain working with your organization.
6) Aside from you, who would the intern have the opportunity to work with (other staff, community members, Board members, program participants, etc.)?
Host Site Contribution
Host sites are asked to fund the $4,000 stipend received by their intern from UCSC. The contribution is due by Friday, July 28, 2017. For smaller organizations, UCSC works to fundraise on their behalf to offer partial subsidies, so that organizations that would benefit from an intern as well as students who would benefit from working for them, are able to engage.
