IN THE WOODS
Scene one:
In Woods, JAKE HARRET, 18, and, DEVON SCHRECK, 19,
Are Walking through a trail when they here a tapping.
Jake Harret: Hey Devon, You hear that?
Devon Schreck: Yeah, Just a woodpecker or something man.
(Both hear screaming)(They stop walking)
Jake Harret: That’s not no Woodpecker.
Devon Schreck: (Sarcastically) Really I had no…. (Man Hits Devon with a Stick on the Head)
(Jake Screams and turns to run when Hermit runs to him and hits Jakes Head with stick)
Jake wakes up under a bridge. Devon and the strange man are gone
(Jake looks around and begins to scream when the hermit climbs in)
Hermit: Shut up
Jake: Who are you?
Hermit: None of your business kid
Jake: Where is Devon?
Hermit: Somewhere
Jake: (angrily) somewhere? SOMEWHERE?! You tell me right now
(Hermit Stands up and pushes Jake into the water)
Hermit: He is fine.
Jake: I want to see him
Hermit: Fine
(Hermit walks out and then comes back in with Devon who is bloody)
Jake: WHAT DID YOU DO TO HIM YOU, YOU…
(Hermit slaps him)
Devon: Jake…Do what he says… okay
Hermit: Jake? Is that your name? Well okay Jake you’re going to do something for me.
Jake: I am not doing crap
Hermit: (laughs) I thought you’d say that.
(Hermit walks up to Devon and starts to beat him)
Jake: STOP IT! YOU’LL KILL HIM STOP IT.
(Hermit stops beating Devon)
Hermit: I won’t kill him.
Jake: Okay
Hermit: I will though, if you don’t do what I ask
(Jake looks at Devon who is lying in a puddle)
Jake: What do you want me to do?
(The Hermit Smiles)
Scene 2:
Jake is standing on a trail with the Hermit
Jake: So I just walk straight and get your supplies
Hermit: Yes
Jake: And Devon will be okay?
Hermit: Yes
Jake: Do you promise?
Hermit: No (Laughs)
(Jake looks at him angrily)
(Hermit stops smiling)
Hermit: And If you tell anyone. I will kill Devon and comeback for you
Jake: You Basturd
(Jake begins walking and the Hermit begins Laughing)
Scene 3:
Devon is sitting in the water when the hermit climbs in
Hermit: Well your friend is doing it
Devon: You’re going to kill us anyway
Hermit: No
Devon: Yes
Hermit: No
Devon: Yes
Hermit: Not You
Devon: What…
Hermit: He took the bait
Devon: What are you talking about he did what you ask. HE IS OBEYING YOU.
Hermit: Hey I’m not killing him
Devon: Your not?
Hermit: No
Devon: oh good
Hermit: You are
Devon: No I’m not
Hermit: His life or yours
Devon: What… You can’t do that
Hermit: I do need entertainment
Devon: You’re Sick
Hermit: YOU GO THROUGH WHAT I WENT THROUGH AND YOU ACT NORMAL. (Hermit Kicks Devon in the stomach)
(Devon falls in the water)
Hermit: Your choice Devon your life or His
(Devon looks at him)
Scene 4: Jake is walking back into the forest with some bags when he sees Devon Holding a large stick
Jake: Devon? What happened did you kill him
Devon: I am so sorry Jake
Jake: Sorry for what
(Devon hits Jake in the stomach with the stick)
Devon: For that (lifts stick over his head)
Jake: Devon what are doing (coughs)
(Devon Kicks Jake) (Jake falls to the ground)
Devon: You or me man. I am sorry. I really am.
Jake: No your not. You disgust me.
Devon: I really AM sorry man I am. I value my life man and I am sorry for this okay you have to understand.
Jake: UNDERSTAND WHAT? UNDERSTAND WHAT DEVON. THAT YOU WANT TO LIVE SO YOU’RE GOING TO BEAT ME TO DEATH. HE IS GOING TO KILL YOU TOO MAN.
Devon: No he won’t. Don’t say that. (Devon hits Jake again)
(Jake who is now bleeding stands up)
(Jake spits blood)
Jake: Fine Devon. If you rather fight each other until were both beaten bloody and weak. Then fine. He will just kill us anyway
(Devon lifts stick over head)
Devon: No man. You will die I will live THAT’S THE GAME MAN THAT’S HIS GAME (gunshot)
(Devon staggers then falls down) (Revealing a small bloody spot)
(Jake looks at the hermit holding the gun)
Hermit: I asked for a fight not a soap opera
(Jake looks at the Hermit then hunches down and picks up the stick that Devon was beating him with)
Hermit: Whatcha gonna do with that boy
Jake: Kill you with it
Hermit: You don’t have the motivation you couldn’t do it
Jake: You just killed my best friend that’s enough motivation
(Jake begins to walk to the hermit)
Hermit: Fine Let’s Dance (points gun at Jake)
(Jake runs and hits The Hermit in the stomach 7 times)
(The hermit falls back in to the shore of the stream)
(Jake begins to run to civilization) (He then stops at Devon’s body)
Jake: I will get help man. Bye buddy
Scene 5:
Jake runs into a street and then sees a man walking on the street. Jake runs up to him
Jake: SIR you got to help me. My friend and I were kidnapped by this hermit and my friend got killed you got to help me.
Man: Hermit? You didn’t hurt him did you?
Jake: I think so. (Laughs) I hope so. I hope I killed him.
Man: I hope you didn’t. Cause that man is my brother
Jake: What
Man: (laughs) Lets go help him shall we (laughs)
END
