.3Structured CablingSection 27 10 00
1.2SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
.1The work includes furnishing all labour, materials, tools, equipment and documentation required for a complete Patient Monitoring and Telemetry Cabling System.
.2The telemetry system is designed to acquire and monitor physiological data for ambulating patients within a defined coverage area. The transmitter, worn by the patient transmits the ECG data that is then received by the antennas located throughout the coverage area. The antenna system receives the RF telemetry data while filtering out potential interfering signals. The RF is then routed through the antenna system to the receiver system.
1.3submittals
.1As-built Records and Drawings:
.1Confirm required format with the owner prior to preparation of submittals.
.2Provide a single line diagram showing all components and their interconnections with a brief description of the system architecture.
1.4quality assurance
.1The contractor shall employ staffs who are knowledgeable of the telecommunications standards stated in the references above and have been trained to install communications cables.
.2The contractor’s job site supervisor shall be an RCDD or have equivalent knowledge and a minimum of five (5) years hands on experience installing structured cabling systems.
1.5delivery, storage and handling
.1All materials shall be stored and handled to ensure that their performance requirements are not affected by abrasions, dust or extreme temperatures.
.2Follow manufacturer recommendations and ensure that all materials are stored in a dry location that is free of construction duct.
.3Do not bring materials to site until they are required for use and a suitable storage space is identified for the storage of data communications equipment.
2Products
2.1Equipment.
.1All telemetry system antennas, patient monitoring equipment, telemetry servers and RF signal receivers and other active components shall be furnished and installed by the System Vendor.
2.2Antenna Coax Cabling
.1Install only System Vendor provided plenum rated RG-6/u 2279V/2273V coax cable
.2System vendor will provide an adequate supply of coax cable to be pulled through the Coverage Area according to the System Vendor supplied floor plans.
2.3Network Cabling
.1Refer to [Section 27 10 00 Structured Cabling] for Network Cabling requirements.
.2Network cabling for the Patient Monitoring and Telemetry System to be supplied and installed by the Contractor.
3Execution
3.1General
.1Install Patient Monitoring and Telemetry System Equipment as per manufacturer recommendations and according to the requirements of the System Vendor.
.2All connecting cables shall be installed using cable management to ensure a clean and neat appearance.
.3The contractor shall coordinate with other trades to ensure that all Patient Monitoring and Telemetry System Equipment is installed in a suitable climate controlled location.
.4On complete of installation check system for operation, make all necessary adjustments to ensure that Minister’s requirements are met.
.5All cabling must be properly labeled at both ends using the annotations indicated on the System Vendor drawings.
.6Install all cables in one continuous piece. Splices shall not be allowed under any circumstances.
.7Grounding to be provided as per the System Vendor’s requirements.
.8Where open cable is run above dropped ceilings and penetrates a smoke or a fire rated wall, the Contractor shall furnish and install a minimum 27mm emptysleeve, 2m long, extending at least 0.5m on both sides of the partitions with bushings on both ends.
.9Attach cables to permanent structure with suitable attachments at intervals of 1.5m. Support cables above accessible ceilings with J Hooks.
.10All cable concealed in walls or inaccessible ceilings shall be installed in conduit.
3.2INSTALLATION of Antenna Coax Cabling
.1All antenna cables will be run directly back to the designated floor communications room.
.2The length of the cable run will contribute to the total line loss incurred at the receiver cabinet. The cable routing must utilize the shortest possible pathway from each antenna to the communications room.
.3The length of each cable is integral to the antenna system design. Each cable length is to be recorded on a spreadsheet and returned to the System Vendor.
.4Allow 1.5m of excel cable above the ceiling tile at each antenna location and a minimum of 5m of excess cable at the floor of the floor Communications Room below the splitter board.
.5Provide a 4’x4’x3/4” sheet of plywood within the Communications room for mounting the antenna splitter hardware.
.6Provide 4 single gang duplex receptacles on UPS power within 1 foot of the splitter board.
.7Provide 4 single gang UPS powered duplex receptacles each with a dedicated 15A-1P circuit within 1 foot of the splitter board.
3.3Installation of Network Cabling
.1Do not coil excess cable as it may cause excess noise pickup.
.2Wall jacks to be labeled as per the System Vendor’s installation drawings.
3.4Installation of Telemetry System Hardware
.1Provide data rack’s as per the System Vendor’s installation drawings to house all Telemetry System Hardware located within each Communications Room.
.2Provide 4 single gang UPS powered duplex receptacles each with a dedicated 15A-1P circuit within 1 foot of the Telemetry Hardware Rack.
