NROTC at the University of Oklahoma
I am a strong advocate of this program and the opportunities it provides to young adults. Along with being a graduate of an NROTC program, I am also a native of Cement, OK and graduated from high school there in 1987. The opportunities that the Navy has provided me personally are remarkable and I wanted to ensure our program was getting distributed throughout the state to offer the opportunity to start that path to today’s students.
How to join OU NROTC:
1 – Apply for the national scholarship their senior year of high school. The deadline for this isJanuary 31stof their senior year. Typically, students complete the application process during the summer between the junior and senior year in high school or very early in the senior year.
2 - The College Program, which is essentially the NROTC equivalent of being a walk-on football player on a college football team. The NROTC unit does not pay for any of the costs associated with their schooling, and at the end of their freshman and sophomore years in college, they have an opportunity to earn a 3-year or 2-year scholarship, respectively. If students participate in this program, they need to be prepared to pay for the full cost of college for the first two years at the university. The College Program application process runs from1 January 2017 – 1 May 2017. Although it does not apply directly to you since you are in Oklahoma, participation in the NROTC program also grants in state tuition to the University of Oklahoma for out of state residents.
For your information the minimum requirement for consideration are as follows:

I would also recommend that you visit as this website contains a vast amount of information about the NROTC program nation-wide. Additionally, this is where students will submit their application for the NROTC scholarship.
Additionally, you can visit is the OU NROTC site where students can learn about our program and request an application for the College Program beginning1 January 2017.
