Updating the Advantage Database Server to Version 8.1
Note: Ensure Medisoft has been backed up, and that all users exit the program before proceeding.
Synopsis: a) Stop the Advantage Database Server, b) Download the Advantage Database Server 8.1 upgrade, c) Unzip the file, d) Install the upgrade.

1. Click on Start, Programs, Advantage Database Server, and select AdvantageConfiguration Utility.
2. From the Database Info tab, click Stop Service, and Exit.
3. Click here to download Advantage Database Server 8.1 upgrade.
4. In the File Download window, click Save.
5. After the Save As window opens, select Desktop and click Save.
6. Once downloaded, click the Advantage8.exe icon on the Desktop.
7. Click Run in the Open File window.
8. When the WinZip Self-Extractor opens, click Unzip.
9. Once the files have been unzipped, click OK.
10. When the InstallShield Wizard for the Advantage Database Server opens, click Next.
11. In the License Agreement window, select I accept license agreement, and click Next.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The Stop Service warning will pop up at this point if the Advantage Database Server is still running. Click Yes to stop it.
12. The default Destination Folder is C:\Program Files\Extended Systems\Advantage 8.1.
If Advantage has been installed to a different folder, click Change to browse to that folder. Click Next.
13. Click Install in the Ready to Install the Program window.
14. There are two possible screens that will open at this point: a) Product Information or b) Use pre-existing Serial Number.
a) If the Product Information window opens, enter the Serial Number, Validation Codes and click Next.
b). If the Use pre-existing Serial Number dialog box opens, click Yes.
15. Click Finish in the InstallShield Wizard Completed window.
The Advantage Database Server 8.1 is now updated.
