DP Instructional Leader (3-6) – Dubbo West Public School

Expressions of interest (EOI) are invited from teachers interested in a career opportunity in the position of Deputy Principal, Instructional Leader, Literacy and Numeracy 3-6 from 27 January 2017 to 19 December 2017 (with the possibility of an extension).

The position with be located at: Dubbo West Public School

The Deputy Principal, Instructional Leader, Literacy and Numeracy 3-6 will develop the instructional capacity of staff whilst focussing on improving the literacy and numeracy acquisition of all students in Years 3-6.

School Information

Dubbo West Public School is a P-6 school which operates on a split site some 700 metres apart. With enrolments of around 320, we currently have approximately 56% Aboriginal and 84% low socio-economic students. We are an Early Action for Success School and provide our students with many extra-curricular activities such as band, choir, cultural and sporting opportunities. We offer Aboriginal language and culture from P-6 and are a Positive Behaviour for Learning school.

An expression of interest addressing the criteria, of no more than 4 pages in length should be submitted to Eileen Day, Principal at by 4pm on Friday 16 December 2016.

Selection criteria

•Proven successful experience in instructional leadership that has improved learning outcomes for 3-6 students in literacy and numeracy.

•Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience in, implementing successful change processes that has resulted in improved learning outcomes for 3-6 students.

•Demonstrated deep understanding of current research in effective instructional leadership and effective high quality teaching in early literacy and numeracy.

•Demonstrated experience in the provision of high quality differentiated professional learning that has enhanced teacher capacity in improving literacy and numeracy outcomes for 3-6 students.

•Demonstrated capacity to work alongside teachers to both model and improve teaching and assessment skills in early literacy and numeracy.

•Outstanding communication skills with the demonstrated capacity to contribute to building and strengthening a collaborative learning culture in a school.

•Demonstrated ability to build staff expertise to lead literacy and numeracy teaching and learning.

One of the referees listed must be the applicant’s current principal or supervisor for non-school-based staff. Expressions of interest must not exceed 4 A4 pages and require the signature of the applicant’s current principal or supervisor.
