Title: Database Application Developer

Job Description:

FEMA Region X is seeking candidates with intermediate level database experience to fill the position of Database Application Developer in support of the Response Division. Candidate duties will include the following:

•  Create databases and user interfaces utilizing tools such as MS Access 2007, SQL, VB.NET, ASP.NET and Adobe Flexbuilder, to include design, development, testing, integration, troubleshooting and debugging, documentation and training.

•  Create and revise SQL queries, reports, forms and tables. Link tables with other data sources. Build necessary database queries to retrieve and update data.

•  Interpret customer requests for development and identify most effective technological solution.

•  Manage databases using Table, Performance and Document Analyzer.

•  Perform workflow and data modeling.

Position Requirements:

1-3 years MS Access Programming experience using SQL

2-4 years MS Excel experience using macros and high level functions

1-3 years SQL experience

1-3 years Visual Basic for Applications

Desired:

2-4 years Asp.net and VB.NET

1-3 years experience HTML and CSS

Reporting Services 2005

JavaScript

Adobe Flexbuilder 3

This position is for a Disaster Assistance Employee in Response Division, FEMA Region X in Bothell, WA.

Special Requirements
FEMA’s mission is “To support our citizens and first responders to ensure that as a nation we work together to build, sustain and improve our capability to prepare for, protect against, respond to, recover from, and mitigate all hazards”. A Disaster Assistance Employee (DAE) is a temporary employee who works intermittently at times of disaster and emergency. A DAE plays a critical role in the successful execution of the FEMA mission by staffing Joint Field Offices or by providing support in the Regional Office.

A Disaster Assistance Employee must be a highly motivated individual who possesses the ability to produce quality work with minimal supervision, under the pressure of a fast-paced, stressful environment. You may be called to work anywhere in the United States on short notice. You will be expected to work long hours, and work conditions may be austere.

DAE Requirements

Relocation Expenses will not be paid.

Required to pass a background investigation and fingerprint check.

Appointment

All Disaster Reservists are termed Disaster Assistance Employees (DAE). The appointment period for reservists is limited to 2 years, that may be renewed based on employee performance and the needs of the agency. You must be available a minimum of 90 days per year and sign a conditions of employment agreement.

Compensation

DAEs are paid hourly based on an annual salary. Overtime is paid as applicable. Each position is compensated based on qualifications and complexity of duties. Due to the nature of this appointment, there are no benefits (i.e., health or life insurance or vacation) offered, with the exception of sick leave which is accrued only while deployed.
