Rendell Announces Inaugural Committee

Harrisburg – Governor-elect Ed Rendell today announced the structure and members of the committee overseeing his Tuesday, January 21st Inauguration as Pennsylvania’s 45th Governor.

The Governor-elect said that the Honorary Chairs of the Rendell Inaugural Committee are:

§  George Leader, former Governor of the Commonwealth;

§  John F. Street, Mayor of Philadelphia;

§  Tom Murphy, Mayor of Pittsburgh;

§  Stephen R. Reed, Mayor of Harrisburg;

Co-chairing the Committee are Rafaela Colon, Rev. Dr. J. Earl Gannon, Kenneth Jarin, Alan Kessler and Herb Vederman.

Finance co-chairs are Eve Biskind Klothen, Wayne Spilove and William Titelman.

The Gubernatorial Inauguration will begin at 11:30 am on the 21st on the East Side of the State Capitol when the Governor-elect recites the oath of office.

A festive parade featuring 30 marching bands and participants from each of Pennsylvania’s 67 counties will follow the Inaugural ceremony.

All Inaugural events require passes or tickets, except:

§  Some standing room that does not require a pass will be available at the Capitol swearing-in ceremony; and,

§  The public is invited to enjoy the Inaugural Parade as participants march around the Capitol grounds, stepping off from 5th and Walnut Sts. Viewing space will be available as the parade moves west on Walnut Street toward 3rd St., turns right to go north on 3rd St. across the front of the Capitol toward North St., and turns right to go east on North St. toward Commonwealth Ave.

The celebration will continue in the evening at the State Farm Show Complex with a Gala Concert at 7 pm and the Inaugural Ball at 9 pm.
