Most tests are bulk-billed, except for 24-hour ambulatory BP monitor –$50, Tilt Table Test –$100

ECG STRESS TEST

Allow up to 1 hour for the test.

Wear comfortable walking shoes.

Do not take beta-blockers or calcium channel blockers (or heart-rate slowing medications) on the day of your test.

Examples of medications to stop:

-blockers:Atenolol(e.g. Tenormin, Noten), Metoprolol(e.g. Betaloc, Minax, Lopressor, Metohexal), Sotalol (e.g. Sotacor, Sotahexal), Propranolol (e.g. Inderal, ), Bisoprolol(e.g. Bicor), Carvedilol(e.g. Dilatrend, Dilhexal), Nebivolol(Nebilet)

Calcium channel blockers:Verapamil (e.g. Isoptin, Veradil, Anpec, Cordilox, Veracaps SR, Tarka), Diltiazem(e.g. Cardizem, Vasocardol)

Sinus node inhibitor:Ivabradine (e.g. Coralan)

ECHOCARDIOGRAM

Allow up to 1 hour for the overall test. Wear loose top, this will need to be removed during procedure. No other preparationisnecessary.

HOLTER AND AMBULATORY BLOOD PRESSURE MONITOR

Wear a loose-fitting top, and allow up to ½ hour for fitting. You will need to wear the unit attached under your clothing for 24 hours, please return the unit the next day or at your earliest convenience for analysis.

TILT TABLE TEST

This test is for investigation of syncope (blackouts). Fast for 4 hours before the test. You will require someone to take you to the test and drive you home. This is particularly relevant if you experience a blackout during the test.

PACEMAKER CHECK

Please inform the receptionist that you are having a pacemaker check, and what brand your pacemaker is: Medtronic, Boston Scientific, St. Jude, Biotronik, etc.
