A Day in the Life of Connecticut Manufacturing - 2018

Q – What video format, size and length are required?

A - The submission should be in a Windows-based format such as .avi, .mp4, .mpeg or .wmv. The video file should not exceed 150mb in size and can be between 1-3 minutes in length.

Q – Can a school enter more than one video?

A – Yes, by registering multiple teams. Each team will be paired with a different manufacturer. Each team is limited to one video submission.

Q – How do the student teams get matched with a manufacturing company?

A – Once a team registers through EAMA, the video challenge project manager will match the team with a company & contact the team advisor.

Q – Is there a cost for schools to participate?

A – The only cost to schools is the travel expense incurred to visit manufacturing sites. The manufacturing companies pay a fee to participate in the event.

Q – Can I submit my video and forms via mail?

Materials submissions will not be returned.

Q – How do I know if our video has been received?

A – The team advisor will receive a confirmation via email within 24 hours that his/her entry has been received.

Q – How will you choose winners?

A – For the judged winners, entries will be scored by an expert panel using the following criteria:

Message content – (worth 50% of points)

·  The message effectively defines the assigned profession at the partner company; how someone would train for that profession, what skills are needed, what the individual does on a daily basis & how his/her career impacts others at the company, what other opportunities this profession can lead to, etc.

·  The message effectively shows the assigned manufacturing profession in a clear and creative manner.

·  The message effectively promotes manufacturing as a good career choice.

Creativity & Originality (worth 25% of points)

·  Video Concept Narrative document is submitted, complete & timely (we will provide samples of some formats to follow).

·  Video concept and approach is unique.

·  Entrant employs innovative methods to convey the message.

·  Audio and visuals enhance, rather than distract from, the underlying message.

Quality (worth 25% of points)

·  Audio quality – any dialogue can be easily understood, music and/or sound effects of adequate fidelity.

·  Visual quality – video production appears professional, any visual effects contribute rather than distract from the message.

For the popular winners, the top three entries with the most online “Likes” on April 20, 2018 will be in the running for Audience Choice Award.

Q – How will the winners be announced?

A – Winners of the judges’ vote will be announced at the Film Festival on April 26, 2018. Winners of the popular vote will also be announced at the Film Festival.

There will be a festival dinner/reception held in the Cafeteria of Quinebaug Community College at 5:00 PM on April 26, 2018. The Festival will be held in the Auditorium. It will follow the reception and run from 6-8 PM.

Q – What will happen to the winning videos?

A – The winning videos will become property of EAMA.

Q – How many people will see the video, when will it be released?

A – The video will be publicized at EAMA’s discretion. All the videos in the contest will be posted on You tube. Winning videos will be displayed on the EAMA website – http://www.eamainc.org
