KIT LIST - Atid

(Just a guide to help you)

Please ensure that all items are clearly labelled with your child’s name.
It’s in YOUR interest as it’s virtually impossible for you to find your missing items if they are not named.
Due to restricted space allowance on coaches; each participant is limited to ONE large camping rucksack and ONE day rucksack.

The items listed below are essential parts of the kit list. Not having these items could, in some cases, endanger your child’s health and safety. Please ensure that your child takes ALL of the Specific Items as without these s/he may be prevented from participating in some of the activities.

For the coach journey to site: please bring a packed lunch; this must be STRICTLYVEGETARIAN WITH NO NUTS, and FairTrade where possible and a small amount of money (£5-10) for nosh when they stop off at a service station for a short rest stop. Pocket money has already been paid.

Snacks will be provided for the journey home.

SPECIFIC ITEMS

Rucksack:

As we are ‘living’ in tents a suitcase is NOT suitable. You should bring a sports bag/rucksack that can be carried and is suitable for camping, and no more than 20kg in weight. We will be going on ‘day’ hikes so another sturdy small rucksack is vital. This should go over both shoulders and support the back.

Walking attire:

A good strong pair of Walking Boots is a MUST. They should support the ankle and have a good sole grip. Do not buy these the week before you come to Shemesh – as it is very important for you to break in these boots before you arrive, otherwise you will get enormous blisters which can lead to extreme pain and discomfort. Try a week or two of continuous wear. Doc Martens are not suitable.

A Pair of Wellington boots are also advisable for wearing around the campsite.

Walking Socks:

These should be proper walking socks, bought from a camping shop and must fit well. You will need a minimum of three pairs. Wear either one or two pairs for walking – whichever is more comfortable.

Cagoule and waterproof trousers:

Low quality is not good enough if caught in wet weather. Get a 100% GUARANTEED WATERPROOFONES.

Sleeping Bag and Camping Mat:

It gets cold at night, a warm outdoor sleeping bag will be necessary. For a little extra comfort please bring a camping mat if you have. You don’t have to pack it into your suitcase it can go in a separate bag.

Warm Clothes

It gets very cold in the evening, so it is important to bring with warm jumpers; sweatshirts and jogging pants as well as a fleece. We would recommend bringing at least 4 warm items.

Water Bottle and Strap:

At least a litre and a half bottle with a strap. Remember a large bottle will be heavy when full.

Insect Repellent:

We strongly recommend bringing insect replant; bite cream and anti-histamine.
