General Description
Reporting to the Research Director, the Clinical Intake/Research Specialist generally provides screening, assessment, and psychological testing of sexually abused/traumatized children and their non-offending parents. Additionally, the Specialist will provide therapy to children and their non-offending parents, provide consultation to clinicians and team members, testify in court when required, and assist in research activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct screenings, assessments, and psychological evaluations of children and their parents as they receive services through the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center (DCAC). Scoring, interpretation, and brief report-writing will occur under the supervision of a licensed psychologist.
- Provide consultation to clinicians and team members regarding the children assessed.
- Testify in court when subpoenaed to do so regarding findings from screenings, assessments, psychological evaluations and other therapeutic activities.
- Provide therapy to children and non-offending parents under the supervision of a licensed psychologist.
- Participate in relevant meetings, staffings, and supervision.
- Enter clinical findings as research data, assist in analyses of data, and participate in manuscript preparation and presentations.
Qualifications and Skills
- Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Psychology (will consider students who have completed all degree requirements except for dissertation).
- Bilingual is a plus, but not required.
- Clinical experience in training or internship with children and families (experience with abused children preferred).
- Experience working with other mental health disciplines.
- Experience with screening, assessment, and psychological testing of children including report-writing and presenting findings to families and other disciplines.
- Experience in providing therapy to children and their families.
- Previous experience completing in data collection, input, and analyses.
