Job Description: Childcare Development & Support Worker (Maternity Cover)
Hours of work:
35 hrs p.w.(some evening work will be required)
Salary: £25,951, scp. 29
Responsible to: BAND Childcare Manageron a daily basis and ultimately to the BAND Management Committee.
This post runs from June 4th 2018 to May 31st 2019 subject to funding beyond December 31st 2018. It is terminable by 2 months notice at any point.
Job Purpose:
To develop, support and monitor childcare providers to enable them to provide quality care for children.
Individual Responsibilities:
- To promote and support the development of accessible and affordable childcare provision.
- To meet with existing providers and to work with staff and management to identify support needs.
- To work with providers in developing strategies to ensure sustainability and to develop action plans to meet these support needs e.g. advice, resources, training, business planning etc.
- To work with providers to ensure they maximise participation of both parents and children and are responsive to the needs of the local community.
- To advise and support providers in developing high quality, child centred and inclusive childcare provision.
- To advise and support providers in developing and implementing positive action and anti-discriminatory practice in relation to employment and service delivery.
- To work with providers to ensure they are accessible to all groups e.g. single parents, low income families, working/training families.
- To develop monitoring criteria, meeting with providers regularly to monitor their services against criteria for BAND membership.
- To advise and support management and staff to ensure that schemes meet all their statutory and legal obligations e.g. Health & Safety policies etc.
- To carry out monitoring and evaluation of work undertaken as required by funders and BAND.
General Responsibilities:
10. To attend and participate in BAND staff meetings, management committee meetings and others as required.
11. To actively promote and implement all BAND's policies, eg Equal Opportunities policy.
12. Maintain records of work carried out and prepare reports as required.
13. To undertake training as required.
14. To carry out any other duties mutually agreed by the postholder and management committee.
Person Specification: Childcare Development & Support Worker
EssentialDesirable
At least one years' experience in the Basic understanding of statutory
childcaresector.requirements of The Children Act, EYFS and other legislation relevant to childcare.
Understanding of the Voluntary Experience of working in the
Sector.Voluntary Sector.
Understanding of the principles ofExperience of planning strategies
Community Developmentand preparing action plans.
Commitment to and understanding ofExperience of training in childcare
