CPCSC Goal: ACHIEVEMENT
ALL students will demonstrate increasing academic achievement levels with the rate of learning and learner outcomes determined by the aptitude of each student.
During the 2015-2016 school year, describe strategies toward goal attainment
  • MacArthur will increase the percentage of students earning a Pass+ on the ISTEP+ assessment.
  • MacArthur will increase the students’ growth percentile to the 55th percentile or higher.
  • MacArthur will maintain ISTEP+ scores in the 90%’s range.
  • MacArthur will have students’ will self-monitor or track one’s own performance and outcomes
  • MacArthur will maintain IRead-3 results in the mid 90’s
  • MacArthur K & 1 teachers will receive Inquiry Math training the first week of August by Dr. Erna Yackel
  • MacArthur 2-5 teachers will receive Inquiry Math training in June by Mr. Joe Bysiek

CPCSC Goal: ARTICULATION
ALL students will experience the highest quality school corporation programs, processes, and services that are articulated horizontally, vertically, and systemically.
During the 2015-2016 school year, describe strategies toward goal attainment
  • MacArthur teachers will continue the book study on, Visible Learning for Teachers by John Hattie.
  • MacArthur teachers will work with in house literacy coaches to assist them with balanced literacy.
  • MacArthur teachers will participate in vertical and horizontal articulation within the corporation during the six ½ days scheduled into the school calendar.
  • MacArthur teachers meet 2x a month for faculty meetings.
  • MacArthur teachers meet for grade level and cross grade level meetings.
  • MacArthur teachers will utilize Wednesday mornings for professional development opportunities.
  • MacArthur’s School Improvement Committee meets as a minimum 2x a year.
  • MacArthur holds a Title I parent meeting.
  • MacArthur’s PTO continues to help articulate the quality education Crown Point provides for our students.
  • MacArthur has an exceptional website that is updated weekly
  • MacArthur has a student advocate group called, Voice of the Mustangs
  • MacArthur has a student Council where the students have an opportunity to give input on the school.
  • MacArthur sends Alert Now messages to school families.
  • MacArthur teachers provide Parent/Teacher conferences and the corporation has also scheduled dedicated time into the school calendar.

CPCSC Goal: PARTNERSHIPS
ALL students will be nurtured by our community through shared expertise, collaborations, communications, and resources that maximize each student’s holistic development intellectually, creatively, emotionally, socially, and physically.

  • MacArthur has a newly developed partnership with Faith Church in Cedar Lake.
  • MacArthur has a newly developed partnership with Bethel Church in Cedar Lake.
  • MacArthur runs an “Angel Tree” project every Christmas providing clothing, Nipsco payments, grocery cards, toys, etc. to over 150 students.
  • MacArthur has a partnership with the Boys and Girls Club located right next to our school.
  • MacArthur has a partnership with the Crown Point Community Foundation.
  • MacArthur has a partnership with the Cedar Lake Police Department and our DARE program.
  • MacArthur has a partnership with the Crown Point Rotary for “Shoes for Kids”
  • MacArthur has a partnership with Purdue Calumet and Dr. Diana Underwood, along with retired Purdue Professor Dr. Erna Yackel.
  • MacArthur has a partnership with the Cedar Lake American Legion.
  • MacArthur has a partnership with the Lake County Sheriff’s Department at Christmas time called, “Shop with a Cop”.
  • MacArthur has numerous adult volunteers that help with the “Good News Club” for our students.
  • MacArthur provides a no cut basketball program for all 4th and 5th grade students after school.
  • MacArthur has a partnership with the Crown Point High School foreign language department.
  • MacArthur provides various parenting classes sponsored by grade level teaching teams and/or the school social worker
  • MacArthur provides numerous enrichment activities for our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students (i.e. Foreign Languages, Robotics, School Newspaper, 5th Grade Play, etc.)
  • MacArthur has a full time social worker that is very active in helping provide the students and their families with a multitude of resources.
  • MacArthur runs a “Mr. Carnahan” helper program where the students help take ownership of the school by volunteering their time.
  • MacArthur runs a library aide program where the students help assist Mrs. Andretich our school librarian.
  • MacArthur’s 4th and 5th grade students’ partner with lower grade students to assist them with any skill gap areas in need.
