This Is Pledge Commitment weekend. If you have not already done so, you can make your pledge today by using the envelopes provided. Thank you in advance for your participation and generosity.
A Car for Sister
Can you help? After 11 years of service, the church car that Sr. Margaret uses, for her many visits to the homebound & hospitals, is beyond repair (the transmission went). With over 140 thousand miles it was not worth the cost of a new transmission, but the church CANNOT afford anything ( especially a car). With the help of Nigel (salesman) and Ayers Chevy we have purchased a 2001 Impala with low mileage at a cost of $5,000.00! We can really use any donations toward this purchase. Whatever you can donate will greatly be appreciated to enable to pay our bills this month. Thank you.
Bereavement Ministry: All Souls Mass
The Bereavement Ministry will host a special Mass for all those who have lost a loved one, and especially those who lost someone this past year, on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 10:00 am. Please come celebrate the life of that special person. All are welcome. Light refreshments will follow in the Rectory Basement.
The Bereavement Ministry is a ministry of care. It is open to all parishioners. The primary function of the Bereavement Ministry is to help those who are suffering from the loss of a loved one. Members of this Ministry attend the wake and funeral, to be of assistance to the family. They help set up the Altar for our priests and prepare the readings if the family so wishes. Interested? Call the office for more info at 973-366-0060.
Holy Hour of Adoration

TWENTY NINTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
First Reading: Isaiah 53:10-11
Isaiah speaks of how the Servant of God will have to give his life up for the sins of other people. Because of this suffering the Servant will receive eternal life for himself and all the people whose sins are forgiven because of him.
Second Reading: Hebrews 4:14-16
Jesus is considered to be the new high priest and mediator between God and his people. Fortunately, Jesus has experienced the same temptations as other people, and so he has more tolerance of our weaknesses.
Gospel: Mark 10:35-45
Two of the disciples ask Jesus that they be allowed to sit at his right and left side when he comes into his glory. Jesus explains that they should not be concerned with their position. Instead they should concern themselves with serving others just as Jesus was planning to serve many in giving his own life for their sins.

“HIS WORD TODAY” by Rev. William J. Reilly
Twenty-Ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time
October 17, 2015
“Since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast to our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has similarly been tested in every way, yet without sin. So let us confidently approach the throne of grace to receive mercy and to find grace for timely help.
We might think of a high priest as portrayed in an epic biblical movie, or recall the role of the father of John the Baptist. What a different image the letter to the Hebrews presents, revealing Jesus in this sacrificial role, identifying totally with humankind, like us in ‘all things but sin.’
We should find comfort in this passage, as He is described as one who sympathizes with our weakness, not condemning but understanding. The author encourages us, directing the way we address the Christ with total confidence. If we do so, we find two great gifts, mercy, which Pope Francis tells us is God’s greatest gift to us, and the timely help we need to do and be better.
A question: How do I approach Jesus at this moment. With confidence, seeking mercy, finding strength in His help?
Birth Parents Must Take Action to Preserve Their Privacy
For well over a century, the Catholic Church in New Jersey has provided adoption services. Throughout all those years, the Church promised to honor the privacy of birth parents and adoptees. That promise of privacy also was assured by law and affirmed by the State Superior Court. Those promises can no longer be kept. On May 27, 2014, a new law took effect that will allow adoptees and certain relatives to request and obtain the names of their biological parents beginning January 1, 2017.
Any birth parents who wish to preserve their privacy must submit a Redaction Request Form to the New Jersey Department of Health no later than December 31, 2016. By filing this form, birth parents will be able to keep their names off any documents provided by the State to adoptees or anyone else. The State made the Redaction Request Form public on August 3, 2015. The form can be downloaded at http://nj.gov/health/forms/reg-36c.pdf
If you know a person who placed a child in adoption, please tell them that if they do not file a Redaction Request Form, their name and other information could be given to the adoptee. Anyone needing assistance can call a HELPLINE AT 609-989-4809.
