JOB TITLE:Part Time Local District Special Education Supervisor (.6 FTE) and
State and Federal Program Grant Coordinator (.2 FTE)
DEPARTMENT:Special Education
REPORTS TO:Assistant Superintendent/Special Education
WORK LOCATION:Belding Schools
WORK SCHEDULE:.8 total FTE; year round
SALARY SCHEDULE:Nonunion position; salary and benefits established by Board
REPLACEMENT QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s Degree or equivalent in a field of Special Education
- Two years administrative experience in special education preferred
- Approval (or temporary approval and enrolled in an approved university) by the Department of Education as a Director of Special Education or Supervisor of Special Education with administrative certification
- Must be thoroughly familiar with State and Federal Special Education rules and regulations
- Understanding of State and Federal Title Grants
- Must be highly organized and detail-oriented
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Regular and consistent attendance
- Supervision and evaluation of ISD Special Education Staff Assigned to the Local District
- Communication and consultation concerning activities they directly supervise as well implementing activities and requests from the ICISD Superintendent and/or the ICISD Board
- Completion of local special education teachers’ evaluations are completed in collaboration with district administrators as designated via local districts.
- Administers directly and through subordinates, special education programs directly operated by the ISD including the direct supervision and administration of the following for ISD staff:

- Responsibilities relative to Local Board of Education
- Attends board meetings
- Carries out board policy, rules and regulations
- Submits items of board business for special education to superintendent
- Provides narrative on business items in special education to board when requested by superintendent
- Responsibilities Relative to Special Education Budget
- Provides input to the development of the annual budget in conjunction with the local district
- Acts as a resource to the local district in determining funding sources for programs
- Responsibilities Relative to Forms and Documents
- Develops, in conjunction with other administrators, all state and federal reports to include:
- special education counts
- cost reports
- membership reports
- budget reports and projections
- Responsibilities Relative to Committees and Organizations
- Maintains active involvement in professional organizations
- Serves as consultant to Superintendent
- Serves as Consultant to Parent Advisory Committee
- Maintains an active role in local and regional committees, groups, and associations involved with, or related to special education services
- Maintain a flow of information to the local superintendent on activities of the Special Education Division, including recommendations on decisions to be made by the Superintendent involving programs and staff in Special Education
- Additional responsibilities from the local district:
- Coordination of Title Grants
- Such other assignments as necessary or as directed by the Superintendent and/or the Board.

- Ability to interpret, comprehend, and follow oral and written instructions in order to perform duties described above.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff, student, parents, and the general public.Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Basic math skills are required.
REASONING ABILITY:
Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
