ADMINISTRATION REPORT - Dr. Bergren
- Great school year expected with over 1500 students. There seemed to be a smoother transition this year for the kids. The ‘Expectations’ meeting in the auditorium with all students went really well.
- New building update. Building planning meetings will start again this Thursday for all who are interested.
- Chrome book distribution is complete. New cell phone policy is school wide, not citywide.
- Buses are on time as of day four.
- PAMS had 89% PTSA membership last school year.
ACTIVITIES REPORT – Dr. Bergren (for Mr. Clark)
Football and soccer tryouts are complete. One Act Play has been cast. Clubs will start soon. See PAMS website for club details.
PARTNER LIASION REPORT–Christine Sullivan (for Katie Warnock)
Partners in Education is now known as Partner Liason. Two companies havebecome PTA members thus far, KlarVoorhees and Keystone Educational Services.
MEMBERSHIP/STRESS FREE - Christine Sullivan (for Jen Sylvest)
Our membership goal this year is 100%! Membership status as of today is 35 students, 75parents and 79 teachers. Virginia is one of the five states Nationally to be chosen to test a new National Membership enrollment program. This is coming with a few glitches but we are working through them. PAMS is only one of two Middle Schools that have a PTSA. Our goal is to provide students with an opportunity to be a part of the enrichment of their school and to be a part of the larger advocacy group.
TREASURER’S REPORT/BUDGET REVIEW – Christine Sullivan (for Ginny Pritchett)
We have a lot of carry over money from last year due to lack of grant requests (see financials for details). We are looking to implement aneducational media type of program for all kids this year, including another showing of “Screenagers”.
BOX TOPS – Christine Sullivan (for Colleen Albarillo)
We love getting box tops! With last year’s earnings, we were able to provide 35 students in need with school supplies. We also received a shelf that you can see at the front of the school for display items. The Farm Fresh link is still activated from last year, but you need to renew the Harris Teeter (#6741) and Target (#104859) links.
CONCESSIONS – Christine Sullivan
We really need help! Working the concessions stand is a really fun way to get to know students, teachers and parents. Even if you can donate an hour of your time it is a huge help. All sports have home and away games, usually four of each. Games are typically Mondays and Thursdays at 5:15 and last about an hour and a half. Set up is 30 minutes prior to game time.
CORRESPONDING SECTRETARY – Jess Lindsey
Teachers’ birthdays will be celebrated this year again with cupcakes delivered in their mailboxes during their birthday month.
HOSPITALITY – Christine Sullivan (for Kathy Rush)
We will request food donations on occasion for events.
PRINCIPALS OF AMERICAN CITIZENSHIP – Dorothy Castillo
This year the kids will be recognized by Dr. Bergren and receive a certificate as well as a coupon for something fun such as Jungle Golf.
REFLECTIONS – Amber Sloan
PAMS has historically done well City Wide. The theme this year is “Within Reach” and the deadline for entries is October 12th. Mr. Dunlo encourages all of his students to enter.
SPIRIT WEAR – Christine Sullivan
We need a new coordinator for Spirit wear. We also need to come up with a new design. Spirit wear is usually sold the first Friday of every month.
VOLUNTEER LIAISON – Dorothy Castillo
Please see vbschools.com to complete a volunteer sheet. You will receive emails for volunteer opportunities.
