Class Activities& Assignments forEnglish III-A (Pds. 1, 2, & 3):

Monday, October 24, 2011: Students entered class, finished any remaining reading of Act I of The Crucible, and completed a new set of word study exercises. During the remainder of class, students began viewing scenes from Act I of The Crucible on video.

Tuesday, October 25, 2011: Students entered class and continued reading Act II of The Crucible. Students have received vocabulary work and should be studying terms for the weekly quiz.

Wednesday, October 26, 2011: Students entered class and finished reading Act II of The Crucible. Students answered questions in class over the action of the play so far.

Thursday, October 27, 2011: Class began with the teacher announcing several reminders: students are to be reading their independent study books as homework, students should bring their independent study books to class for silent reading tomorrow, students need to study vocabulary terms for the quiz tomorrow. Students then viewed Act II of The Crucible.

Friday, October 28, 2011: Students entered class and studied quietly for a few minutes, then completed their weekly word study quiz. Students then had quiet time for independent reading.

Monday, October 31, 2011: Students entered class and read most of Act III of The Crucible. As homework, students should continue reading their independent study books.

Tuesday, November 1, 2011: Students entered class, completed reading Act III of The Crucible, then viewed it for the remainder of class.

Wednesday, November 2, 2011: Students entered class and read Act IV of The Crucible. The teacher then explained the format of the test over the entire play that will take place during class tomorrow; students should review the play in preparation.

Thursday, November 3, 2011: Students entered class and completed their comprehensive test over The Crucible. Students are to have their independent study books read and with them in class for a project tomorrow.

Friday, November 4, 2011: Students entered class and completed their one-day project assignment over their independent reading choice.

Class Activities& Assignments for APE Lit. (Pds. 4, 6, & 7):

Monday, October 24, 2011: Students entered class and began reading HTRLLAP Chapter Fifteen, and then completed the reflective response for that chapter. As students read and work, the teacher uploaded Heart of Darkness projects from students. The end of class came and the teacher gave a brief discussion of how the Hamlet study will unfold and what grade opportunities will arise with each act. As homework students are to compose their SPLOTTS paragraph over the use of Allusion in "The Hollow Men" as a method of revealing theme.

Tuesday, October 25, 2011: Students entered class and completed an anticipation guide for Hamlet after turning in their reflective responses and SPLOTTS work. Students then began reading Act I of Hamlet.

Wednesday, October 26, 2011: Students continued reading Act I of Hamlet in class. As homework, students are to conduct research of independent study titles in order to have a decision made by Friday about which book will be read, and begin work on the new SPLOTTS assignment.

Thursday, October 27, 2011: Classes read almost to the end of Act I of Hamlet. The teacher reminded students to select a title from the list of major works for their independent projects and be ready to turn in that title in class tomorrow, along with the Act I graphic organizer. Students were also reminded of their new SPLOTTS assignment that will be due at the start of class next Tuesday.

Friday, October 28, 2011: Students entered class, turned in their Act I graphic organizers, and completed multiple-choice practice. Students then completed their reading of Act I of Hamlet, and then began viewing Act I. As homework, students should review Act I for the upcoming quotes quiz. Students also need to begin reading their independent study novels, and complete SPLOTTS work.

Monday, October 31, 2011: Students entered class and the teacher announced that all class time would be devoted to watching as much of Act I of Hamlet as possible. Students are to prepare and plan for taking an Act I quiz at the start of class tomorrow, and turning in their weekly SPLOTTS work at that time.

Tuesday, November 1, 2011: Students entered class, turned in SPLOTTS work, and completed their Act I reading quizzes for Hamlet. Students then reviewed SPLOTTS assignment expecations and last week's multiple-choice practice.

Wednesday, November 2, 2011: Students entered class and received copies of the Hamlet Act II Graphic Organizer. It will be due at the start of class Friday, which is when the Act II reading quiz will take place. Students then spent the remainder of class time reading through most of Act II.

Thursday, November 3, 2011: Students entered class and completed their reading of Hamlet, Act II. The Graphic Organizer for Act II will be due at the start of class tomorrow.

Friday, November 4, 2011: Students entered class, turned in Hamlet Act II graphic organizers, completed multiple-choice practice, and reviewed the multiple-choice practice answers. As homework, students should review Act II of Hamlet, and continue reading their independent study selections.
