YQ Challenge 2017

“Moor2Sea”

  • Using your imagination, have fun whilst making a quilted item up to 60cm (24”) in

any one direction for the theme “Moor2Sea”. The challenge theme is inspired by Torquay where the AGM will be held. Torquay is between Dartmoor National Park and the depths of the English Channel. Look on the YQ website for more information and inspiration.

  • Be as creative as you like. It can be something useful or decorative. You can useany technique – patchwork, quilting, appliqué or a mixture of techniques, hand or machine sewing.
  • The age bands for judging will be 10 and under, and 11-16 years.
  • Remember this work needs to be made by you but please state if you havereceived any adult help and how (we understand everyone needs help sometimes).

RULES OF ENTRY

  • The individual categories are open to all current YQ members.
  • The Group Quiltscategory is open to all current YQ School members, groups led by an Interested Adult member and groups led by a YQ volunteer who is a member of The Quilters’ Guild.
  • Entry is free but you must register your entry by: 31stJanuary 2017
  • You do not have to attend the AGM to enter.
  • A 4” hanging sleeve must be attached to the back of your quilted item.
  • Entries may be hand and/or machine sewn.
  • Entries received after the closing date of 13th March 2017will not be entered into the challenge competition.

Entries will be displayed at the Conference and will be judged during the weekend. The winners will be announced at the end of the Conference and prizes awarded (including the Doris Debney

Memorial Prize of £100). Your entry may be collected at the end of the Conference weekend or it will be posted back to you. Your quilt will be insured by the Guild while it is at the conference. Quilts are not coveredwhile in transit or at a member’s home. Please add it to your household contents insurance if so desired.

HOW TO ENTER

Cut off and keep the label at the bottom of the Entry/Registration Form. This will need to be carefully filled in and attached to your entry when it is sent or handed in.
