ENLIGHTENMENT FAIR
In the following weeks each student will have to participate in the 4th Annual Enlightenment fair. For the fair each student will be allowed to work with a maximum of 3 students per group. Each group of 3 students must sign up for their desired topic for the Enlightenment fair. Each group will sign up for their selected topic in the front of the classroom.

II. The Exhibit:
After you have selected a topic you will have to do the following:
- Each group will have to research their topic. This will be done outside of class at the library on Nov. 1st. Each student will need to collect all relevant info on each topic to prepare for the presentation.
- The research will be used for your presentation booth on November 6th. Your booths will have the following requirements:
- Each booth must have a 3 sided poster identifying your topic. 30 points
b. Is it neat and is the information clear to the reader? Is it also inviting to read? 15 points
- Each booth must have 4 illustrations, pictures or diagrams relating to the topic and answering the 4 key questions (SEE BELOW). 40 points
- Each booth must also have 4 questions that can be answered by the information displayed at the booth. Questions and the answers to those questions are due to me in memo format November 6th. 20 points
- Each booth must have an excerpt from literature or a primary source document relating to your topic. 15 points
- Each booth must have a handout (40 copies) with all relevant info on the topic. 45 points
TOTAL: 135 points
III. The Brochure:
- Date of birth and death5 points
- Picture of your person on the front of the brochure5 points
- What was he/she known for (notable achievements)? 5 points
- What was the short term and long term effects of their work? 5 points
- What is their connection to western culture / historical importance? 5 points
- What Enlightenment theories did they have? 5 points
- In what ways did they represent the Enlightenment? 5 points
- Any other important fun facts that you would have and would like to include?
- Neatness: Did you have any spelling mistakes? Is it easy to read? 5 points
- Organization: Did you organize the info well? 5 points
TOTAL: 45 points
IV. Other stuff:
- Each group must a schedule of who is working the booth. Each team must have at least 2 people at the booth at any one time.
- 4Key Questions
1. What did he/she do during the Enlightenment that was significant?
2. What were the short/long term effects did he/she have?
3. When did my ideas become accepted?
4. Where am I from and what was my background?
- You will be given 3 days in class to work on your project. Each day will be worth 10 points towards your HW grade. If you are not working on the project it is a 0.
- The top 5 things to be aware of while designing your booth and brochure.
- Plan out what you are going to say in both brochure and booth
- Show what you have done to others for feedback
- Make sure there is a flow to the presentation of all information
- Make sure the cover has some sort of picture or some sort of draw
- Use only 1 style of font but add bolding where you want the readers eye to go.
- On the day of the Enlightenment Fair their will be many students walking around the MPR. The other students will be visiting other booths taking notes on everyone else’s information. You should be able to answer all questions from people walking by. You will be required to have some sort of food that was eaten during your time period or was eaten by the person you picked.
- The fair will last one period. The first 5 minutes are for set-up and the last 5 minutes are for clean up. Come ready to work!
