HENLEY MONTESSORI

FIRE PROCEDURES & POLICY

The safety of the children and staff at Henley Montessori is paramount. Therefore, the risk assessment ensures the safety of everyone. All members of staff have completed a fire safety course, understand, and can implementthe schools Action Plan. There is a fire drill carried out every half term. A fire risk assessment is made annually with the head teacher and the chairperson of the hall. All fire extinguishers were inspected and certificate provided February 2016. These procedures were audited in January 2012, and relevant changes made.

The head teacher:

-Identified the hazards

-Recorded significant findings

-Assessed the risk

-Reviewed the existing control measures

-Where necessary, provided additional control measures

-Prepared an emergency plan

-Will keep the risk assessment under review

-CARRIED OUT A FIRE RISK ASSESSMENT

Fire Risk Assessment:

-Identification of hazards

-Decide who might be harmed and how

-Evaluate the risks, deciding whether existing controls are adequate or you need to do more

-Record your findings

-Review and revise annually

REMEMBER:

-Keep fire exits and exit routes clear

-Ensure you have good housekeeping and waste management arrangements in place

-Keep flammable liquids to a minimum and store them in suitable containers

-Use and store compressed gas cylinders in accordance with the suppliers recommendations
