Internal Affairs Committee Charter
I. Overview:
The Internal Affairs Committee addresses issues pertaining tothe UCI graduate campus community.In coordination with the VP Internal and Campus Organizing Director, the Committee sustains contact with a wide range of students and organizations on campus. In coordination with these and other relevant groups, the Internal Affairs Committee is tasked with proposing legislation to the Council for their consideration.
II. Responsibilities:
1. Liaise with all on-campus groups concerned with the needs and rights of graduate students, including but not limited to ASUCI, Associated Medical Students, Merage Student Association,and the Law School Student Association
2. Address student interests and needs in administrative areas including campus housing, parking and transportation, and GSHIP
III Committee Membership:
1.Voting Membership
1.1. Campus Communications Director
1.2. Campus Organizations Director
1.3. MerageBusinessSchool Representative
1.4. LawSchool Representative
1.5. MedicalSchool Representative
1.6. 2 non professional school Representatives
1.7. 1-3 additional AGS Representatives
2. Nonvoting Membership:
2.1 AGS VP Internal, who serves as Chair
IV. Procedural:
- The Committee is overseen by Vice President Internal Affairs and AGS Council
- Recommendations are to be approved by simple majority
- Quorum is required for all votes and consists of half of current voting membership
- In the event of a tie the Chair shall cast the deciding vote
V. Operational Guidelines:
1. Application to Membership:
1.1.The AGS Vice President Internal Affairs shall solicit applications and the AGS Council shall approve all Representative members
1.2. Members shall be selected yearly and be replaced as vacancies arise
1.3.The first meeting shall be held no later than the fourth week of Fall Quarter each academic year
2. Procedures:
2.1. The Internal Committee shall meet at least twice a month during the academic school year and once a month during the summer
2.2. Internal Committee meetings are open to the public, unless specified in advance as a “closed session.”
