Vice Presidents/Program Committee Reports:
Lin reported that the new classes available on posted on our information board. If you are taking a class sponsored by Guild, payment can be made online to the guild. If it is a member to member class, payment goes directly to class leader.
There will not be a July Guild meeting because it falls on July 4. Therefore, they will be holding their “Christmas in July” event at the August Guild meeting. More details about the event will be shared later.
NOTE: Rohan will be open July 4 and our room is available for those wishing to attend Chapter.
Meals on Wheels Placements are only needed with Christmas/Holiday themes.
Honor Flight quilts are not needed for now. The Honor Flight schedule will be changing and the next flight will be sending 140 instead of the usual 30-40. There is a church outside of The Villages that wants to donate all the quilts for the next flight.
Old Business (Beth):
Market Place 2018: Bonnie asked for a volunteer to co-chair the committee and Cynthia has volunteered. The Market Place steering committee is asking us to provide preferences for volunteer tasks and the chance drawing prizes. Bonnie read the choices and it was decided to submit the following. Volunteer preferences: first is Cashiers for Entry, second is Chance Tickets and third is Vender Angels. Chance drawing prizes: Our only preference is a cash gift card. The next meeting is June 6. If anyone wants more information, see Bonnie for details.
Pillowcases for Ryan’s Case for Smiles should be brought in at our October 24 Business Meeting so they can be recorded and then taken to the November Guild meeting.
Guild Charity Projects: Finished charity projects should be brought in on the 3rd Tuesday of the month so they can be recorded and Beth can take them to the Executive Meeting the same day.
QGOTV Tote Bags: After discussion and motions we agreed to use the 4 remaining tote bags as raffle prizes.
Chapter Name Tags: Those wanting name tags should let Lori know, along with payment, so requests can be turned in by May 30.
Committees:
Hospitality: Pam indicated that they will be asking for volunteers to sign up for the remainder of the year to provide breakfast before our business meeting.
New Business:
Sundays at Sterling: The first Sunday of each month will be “Demo Sunday”.
AQS at Ocean Center in Daytona Feb. 29-March 3, 2018: The Guild is asking Chapters to inform members that 3 quilts from each chapter can be entered in this show. If interested, let Beth know by August 1. See Beth for more details.
2019 Showcase will not be held at Savannah Center. The event will be split between Rohan and Seabreeze with shuttle service between the 2 sites.
Southern Belles at Rohan has invited us to a covered dish on May 30 at noon. If attending, bring a dish to share. Southern Belles is also asking us to split the $100 expense to purchase a large, square, free standing ironing board. After discussion and motions, we agreed to contribute $50 towards the ironing board.
Quilts & Textiles @ DFAC: Annette shared that 2 of her fabric art projects have been accepted into the show which will held June 9-August 18 at Dunedin Fine Art Center. We are all proud of her accomplishment and there was discussion of some members going to see the exhibits on June 14. More discussion to follow.
Raffle prizes were drawn and winners were Cathy (2 time winner), Mary and Pam.
