Course description: The AP psychology course is designed to introduce students to the systematic and scientific study of behavior and the mental processes of human beings and other animals. Students are exposed to psychological facts, principles, and phenomena associated with each of the major subfields within psychology. They also learn about the ethics and methods psychologists use in their science and their practice. Students should expect a work load similar to what they would have if they were to take this course at the college level. This includes extensive dailyreading, active involvement in class discussions, and taking notes.

Tardy policy
I strictly adhere to the tardy policy set forth by Nease High School. Be sure to have read this policy in the handbooks and or planners.
Makeup Work:
It is the student’s responsibility, not the teacher’s to make up all work due to an absence.
Makeup test will be given by appointment and will be scheduledbefore school only at 8:30 AM. No Exceptions.
*** All makeup work must be made up in the time allotted by the St. Johns County School District. That is one day missed means you have one day to make up. Two days missed then you have two days to make the work up etc…
Absences should be taken care of through the attendance office. Excused absences will allow you to make up work for full credit. The note that is shown to attendance must be shown to them within 48 hours of the student’s return to campus or the absence will remain unexcused and make up work will then count for only 50%. All tests will be made up at 100% of the credit unless the absence was for truancy which is an intentional unauthorized absence from school with witch the school, nor was the parent/guardian aware of.
*** All tests must be made up within 3 days of the student’s return to class, unless there are extenuating circumstances.
Parents will be able to access their child’s grades and assignments online. I keep these grades as up to date as possible. Parents can get login information from the front office.
****1st Homework assignment is to show your parents this syllabus and to have them read over it and fill in the information at the end including their signature. (If you are 18 years old you still need to have this filled out!!!) Thank you in advance.

Parents: Please read over the following:
I have read my child(s) syllabus for AP Psychology and understand the procedures set forth. I am also aware that AP Psychology is a college level course and will be a rigorous one. I aware that my child should be reading the text and studying either vocabulary and or content daily, even if the instructor does not assign homework. I understand that vocabulary is a major piece into passing the AP Exam and that my child will have new vocabulary words with each unit as well as be expected to retain all previous words covered.
