The Lawrence County Board of Education met for a scheduled meeting on January 12, 2012 at the Lawrence County High School Library. The meeting was called to order by Christine Garner and the invocation was given by Mr. Heath Grimes.

After an open discussion it was decided that the meeting could not continue if the agenda was not approved thus the chairman called for another motion and vote.

All personnel items were approve with above collective vote with the exception of item 1 through 4 under Employment which were pulled by Mr. Bradford.
As required by Section 16-9-23 of the Laws of Alabama Relating to Education, and as Superintendent of the Lawrence County School System, I make the following written personnel recommendations for action by The Lawrence County Board of Education:

1. Angel Denise Thompson-MES, FMLA Leave of Absence effective February 1 through February 29, 2012.
EMPLOYMENT
5. Employ Cassie Goodwin at Lawrence County High School as a supplemental resource/remediation language arts teacher for $20.00/hr. for no more than 19 hours/week. Funding: Title I
6. Employ Paul Sanders at Lawrence County High School as the ISS instructional aide for the remainder of the 2011-2012 school year.
7. Employ Lacey Speegle at Lawrence County High School as part time temporary as needed basis, Instructional Paraprofessional not to exceed 19 hours per week. Funding: Title VII

Note: All employment is contingent upon background clearance through the ABI and FBI as stipulated by the State Department of Education and through an independent contractor (Risk Mitigation Services, Inc).
Employment is also contingent upon Employee completing paperwork at the Lawrence County Board of Education the following day.
All employment of bus drivers is pending Motor Vehicle Report.
4. Approve December 2011 Financial Statements.
5. Approve December 2011 Bank Reconciliations.
6. Approve Purchase Order Ledger.
7. Approve contract with Ronald Thrasher for lagoon upkeep at ELHS, HTHS, MTHS, and SPK not to exceed $4,000.00.

A) Kelly Proctor, JJLC, to St. Louis, Mo on February 23-25, 2012 for National Parents As Teachers ASQ-3 & ASQ: SE training.

A motion was made to adjourn the meeting without acting on the pulled item but failed for lack of a second due to item remaining on the agenda.

The Lawrence County Board of Education met to continue the meeting which began on January 12, 2012 at the Lawrence County High School Library. The meeting at the Board of Education on January 13, 2012 was called to order by Christine Garner.

Mrs. Garner indicated that this was a continuance of the previous day’s meeting and that the only item on the agenda was the employment items pulled for discussion.
